Nobody liked the lead actress as much as the rest of the avengers. Carol danvers has less personality then drywood. Ms marvel and oreo flavored marvel aren't recognized enough to have people care enough.

Carol's first movie benefited from being sandwiched in-between Infinity War/Endgame and peak MCU popular. Her sequel benefited from none of that, it had two co-stars from ill-advised Disney+ shows tacked onto the movie, and it had a slew of other problems leading to a box office disaster of epic and based proportions.

Huh, Eternals and Thunderbolts* a.k.a. New Avengers didn't exactly light up the box office the same way as Avengers: Civil War, Avengers: Infinity War/Endgame, Black Panther, Deadpool & Wolverine, and the MCU Spider-Man movies did.

Also, Captain America: Brave New World underperformed compared to Civil War and Winter Soldier. And while The Fantastic Four: First Steps will outgrossed prior FF movies, Marvel's not quite happy with its box office run, especially compared to DCU's Superman.

she wasn't miscast, Brie was a great choice and around the time of her casting it was almost a no-brainer considering her leading role ability and just pure acting skill too. the fact is she got entangled in bullshit "controversies" that had more bark than bite, got a bunch of manosphere keks offended causing them to make a career out of whining about her and others like her, and chief of all the creatives at Marvel Studios just made MCU Carol the blandest prudest boringest fucking woman alive in the universe

I'd say Brie was a great choice if they wanted to go with the black leotard Ms. Marvel too. but the whole shebang around turning Carol into the face of the franchise in both comics and movies was a colossal mess because it consistently did the opposite so much I'm almost impressed how they did it. in a swoop they made Carol unlikeable in both movies and comics and turned off audiences immediately, which is a shame because like I said if they hadn't done that, Brie could've been a great Carol even before the whole Captain Marvel rebranding

Yes - the attached chart shows all the Marvel Movies - the bottom of the list is some of the oldest movies, like Thor and Hulk, but all the movies >>149862893 listed plus BW and SC (see everything with red mark) are all newer movies, and all of these that were Deadpool or weren't Spider-Man have underperformed or been bombs.

Black Widow can at least claim that Disney undercut it by releasing it to Disney+ the same day and also it was still lockdown in major parts of the country and even where theaters were open, they didn't allow every seat to be used/filled. By the time SC and Eternals came out, even though it was still COVID era, most theaters were fully open. So they have no excuse either.
