While I wont say it was intended to be that deep on the outset its clear that overtime the writers and the creator sort looked at what they had and realized that telling that story was clearly compelling and shouldnt be ignored
>episode about fashion trends
She wanted to fit in
>episode about the meat flesh puppet
She wanted to fit in
>episode about her being a preschooler
Insisting that she be viewed for what she truly is
>that whole grand finale special about the Cluster homeplanet
An entire special dedicated to Jenny confronting an entirely new race who from the very outset hates her existence and has to earn their trust
>that one scene where she catches a peak at XJ-10
Implying that her mother has thought of her as just another failure and not as a daughter(even though it was just like some backwards universe or time travel I cant recall)
Id say it was pretty stated by the the team behind the show, but the creators know they arent making something like ATLA or something like that, they keep it lighthearted enough to not dwell on it for too long. For a show with a similar tone I'd say something like KND matches that vibe, where they go into some dark places but keep it light enough that kids dont get outright depressed after an episode
