Have you ever found out that something you watched when you were younger was edited in later releases?

While watching "Bird Bird in China", a movie from my childhood, I noticed that the version uploaded had awkwardly edited out any mention of Big Bird looking for someone who speaks 'American'. Apparently it was removed for the DVD release, but I can't find any reason why. The joke is his own ignorance about English not being called 'American'--I can't really see why they'd feel the need to censor it.

Huh that edited version makes for a very odd conversation.

To wager a guess, it might have been trimmed for TV and the original wasn't saved or stored properly so when they printed the DVD they had what they had.

They also redubbed Telly with his modern voice for the DVD version.

I like the part where he wanders into the road and accidentally stops a tank column.

I thought that some sponge bob episodes and other cartoon episodes were edited because when i saw them again i remembered scenes that didnt appear and the dialogue changed

There was an older Asterix movie that had multiple English dubs and I'm not sure which one I watched as a kid but it's not the one on youtube.
Supporting characters had different names and everything.
