Jimmy was interesting because of how dynamic he could be, fitting in with the girls, the Eds or Rolf's boyscouts.

Sarah meanwhile became even more one note after her crush on Double D faded out, though her surprising, rare moments of concern for her "idiot brother's" safety when fatal misfortune loomed over Ed were nice.
Oddly Ed got more characterization mileage as the protective big brother than Sarah as the spoiled kid sister, like when he threw himself in front of even Double D out of fear he might accidentally harm her. Sacrificing his safety and friendship for ungrateful family is quite the statement.
But she kept playing the thankless bitch despite it.

Jimmy really grew on me watching the show as an adult. He's actually really conniving when he wants to be and I liked to think him and the Eds hung out a lot after they were accepted.
