Hamilton is scared of superman because he forced him to help kara and was threatening him. He wanted to believe in him, but realised superman is not only a flawed person, but a guy that could snap if he is pushed hard enough.

Superman didn't even apologized to him, and instead was again, upset that he cloned kara, rather than trying to reason and understand why a simple human with no powers would have reasons to doubt him.

Anyone can be mind controlled. What's stopping the Leaders of a nation from being controlled into launching nukes everywhere? Should all the governments be blown up? What if Cadmus gets mind controlled?

Superman gets mind controlled by a Villain so that means he has to kill Superman? His argument is paper thin at best.

That's the crux of it. Superman effectively has absolute power, but people felt they could trust him with that so long as he was above human. An angel, as Hamilton said. But the second that drops, that you find that he's as fallible as any other human, that trust just can't exist anymore. All civilization hinges on this guy, this one guy, never having a bad enough day to decide it should go away.

Timm and some of the other staffers hated him for some reason. He was supposed to be killed at the end of STAS but because they hated him they assumed nobody would cared so they went with Dan Turpin instead, a character nobody really cared about anyway and whose most memorable moment in the series is dying. Then they made him a villain just to further that dislike of him.

Superman is more powerful than a nuke. He could just fly super speeds around the earth in minutes and fuck the planet up simply by plowing into everything.

But even nukes we realize needs a leash of sorts. America and the Soviet union realized this during cold war and had fail safes and checks people had to go through before the button could be pressed. What does superman have? A green rock and his friends he could kill before they blink?

On one hand, I get that it would be terrifying that Superman went full Viltrumite because he got brainwashed by Granny Goodness on Darkseid's orders and just like Batman in Tower of Babel he isn't WRONG to be anxious and want a contingency plan in the future.

However, just like Bruce in ToB it's the methodology and lack of ethics that I find contentious.

Hamilton violated both Superman and Supergirl's trust when he initially refused to heal her and then when he DID capitulate it was only so he could steal her DNA for a twisted eugenics project to potentially murder both of them if they were deemed "out of line" with neither of their knowledge nor their consent.

It's not like Supes is 100% opposed to others having contingencies either--he gave Bruce Lex's Kryptonite Ring because he trusted him to use it responsibly if shit gets that bad.

In Tower of Babel the the issue wasn't so much the contingency plans as much as the lack of trust. Bruce didn't need to go in detail about HOW/WHAT he would do to stop the other JLA members if they went rogue or got mind controlled en masse--just that he had/was working on them would have gone a LONG way of mitigating the dramatic fallout in the aftermath.

His friend Emily was already in a doctor-patient relationship with Supergirl at his request, then he pointed out TO HIS FRIEND, WHO HE WAS STILL TRUSTING, that he was legally an enemy of the United States for invading it when mind controlled into Darkseid's son. Exactly. That's the entire reason why Cadmus was born and why it was destined to fail. It was never solely about protecting themselves, no matter how much Hamilton and Waller deluded themselves into believing it. It was about placing superheroes and metahumans right under the US's thumb as their new military branch to replace that feeling of powerlessness instilled by all those alien invasions and superpowered freaks running rampant all over the planet. Because even if they don't fully trust the Justice League or the other superheroes for good reasons, it boils down to them ultimately not trusting them enough and thinking they could just "replace" them with more pliable puppets. And then wouldn't you know it, not only were they beyond easily subverted by the likes of Luthor, not even their own puppets like Doomsday, Galatea, or the original Ulti-men proved to be completely in their control. Shit was doomed from the start with the approach they took, and they only had themselves to blame.

They hated him because all his scenes were just exposition. He would come into an episode and explain the phlebotinum and then leave, so his scenes were always the most boring part of the show.

At least on the part of the writers and producers, that was their own fault for not finding ways to make his scenes less boring, but I'm sure people who had to work on them hated them too.

It's not so much hating him for who he is as "oh, shit, I have to work on a Hamilton scene."

Can't speak for the comics, only the DCAU, but:
>based best friend of Superman
>gets spooked once by the antics of a villain and some hypothetical alt-universe shit
>instantly becomes a recurring antagonist, antagonizing and demonizing superheroes in general like him and Cadmus are TRYING to piss them off
>show loses a fun dynamic
>show gains the shit Cadmus plot
>nigga goes out of his way to gamble on a completely unstable Power Girl lookalike with no way to control her despite having a constant fear of superheroes
Him becoming a "villain" in the series kinda killed it for me, TBQH. Took a lot of "soul" out of it, I quickly missed shit like Hamilton refitting Superman's "crib" to let him fly back to Krypton's remains, or making him a space suit.

>>149916950
One mind controller could also control the mind of the leaders of any of the nuclear superpowers and wipe half the planet too, or control someone at a viral facility and release Super-Duper COVID, or control someone on the ISS and superhero-cartoon it into a space death laser, or controls a nearby spacefaring race to one-shot Earth.
Sounds like their bigger problem should've been to focus on inventing a ray that kills Starro or frees people from mind/body control, not antagonizing the singular most useful guy on the planet who has already saved it a bunch of times by now.
