Honestly pomni is based for confronting him like that.
Now that the seed is planted, I believe that one good conversation with DarkKinger would fix him.
That's probably not going to happen though and jax is just going to fester in his own detachment again because pomni is going to be too scared to talk with him again about it after the fight.

I have a theory about why he didn't and thats because he would have gone absolutely feral on her and probably killed her for real.

I don't know how long jax had been in there but he would have unleashed YEARS if not DECADES of pent up hate and frustration on pomni.
he held his punches because he knew he wouldn't have stopped and left the jester in a worse shape than ragatha, and that can't happen just yet...

Jax only inflict pain on other as a way of re affirming his humanity by belittling others, he isn't going get that by kicking pomni ass and it might have the opposite effect of him having to take her seriously
