>What the hell even was Happy Endgame?
A rushed arc with unnecessary filler (I like the Bladesmith's son backstory but he never appears or is mentioned again, not even as a background character) that should have had its prologue be the final issue of the third arc to get one more issue to properly develop its plot (Similar to Sadly Never After rushing Dark Cloudia, the Gert in hell issue could have worked better as the final issue of Good Girl and having a filler Gert adventure that takes most of the second-to-last issue of the original run).
>Happy just kind of disappears in the last bit of that story, doesn't say anything and Gert doesn't really even redeem herself.
Honestly the most insulting part to me is that Skottie does nothing with Adult Gert despite her being the reason Happy is in hell and wants revenge, she is a glorified background character with only a single generic line of dialogue through the whole arc you could remove and nothing in the story would change, Skottie should have made her an independent antagonist Happy is looking for to have her revenge or maybe have her as Happy's prisoner whom she tortures as a form of intimidation to keep the other Gerts obedient/personal vendetta.
Kid Gert's redemption attempt with the whole "I take responsibility" self-sacrifice feels incredibly forced, through the entire fight she was trying to kill Happy and there is no moment where she self reflects on how she -technically- is the reason the whole war happened, even if the series kept Adult Gert as the main protagonist it would have not worked aside from Happy vs Gert being more personal.
It feels like Skottie wanted a redemption part to give kid Gert a new key and to then have the rug pulled under her and return the series to the status quo for like the third time in the revival alone.
