Original Toonami was just old H-B action shows like Space Ghost, and Space Ghost Coast to Coast was CN's first big original show. Makes sense to tie it all together with Moltar.

they picked up anime pretty quickly. Sailor Moon, Voltron, and something else. they also ran PPG for a while. it was more a general 'action cartoon' block.

I miss when anime was still considered a cartoon by the west. Or at the most were considered "jap cartoons" and werent given this separation that weebs with a superiority complex always gush and overcorrect "AKSHUALLY ANIME ISNT A CARTOON YOU PHILISTINE!!!!"

William Street were the ones handling Toonami, and they were behind Space Ghost coast to Coast.
Toonami was effectively the action cartoon version of Cartoon Planet, which had Brak and zorak, so Toonami got Moltar.
