Storybook Mickey is unparalleled /co/ kino, but we hardly ever get media based on it. What is Disney even doing with Mickey these days?

I find it funny that Sega made this game BEFORE inventing Sonic the Hedgehog. Especially since Mickey is the opposite of Sonic.

Speaking of which Mickey could have been a guest in Sonic Racing Cross World given the history Sega has with Disney it's not simply Castle of Illusion which Sega made. And they have had Disney guest racers in Sonic racing games before.

Lamenting that in less than fifteen years the true universal Mickey Mouse design will be public domain. That includes Fantasia Mickey.

Probably because development costs kept increasing. That's what killed licensed games the PS2 gen was the last hurrah. During the PS3 gen we saw a diminishing number of licensed games. And sadly by now it all got replaced by shitty smart phone games.

Disney's biggest success licensed game being Kingdom Hearts. After the failure of Epic Mickey even Iger realized its better to stay away from the gaming industry as far as their homegrown media is concerned. Stuff they acquired like Marvel? That's fair to license out and even then it's not common anymore like it used to be hence the death of Marvel vs Capcom.

Disney doesn't make media that lends itself well to being video games and no one really wanted to make games out of Disney's frankly worsening movies especially with increasing development costs.

And there's restrictions because Disney has rules over what you can and can't do with their license because we all know Disney is tedious like that. Too many roadblocks to make the idea of Disney Games worthwhile. I'm surprised Kingdom Hearts still exists as a long running series.
