Family Guy is one of the most cynical animated shows out there and bred tons of clones that wanted to copy its edgy, dark humor. Listening to Seth lecture me about hope is like listening to Simon Pegg complain about the "dumbing down" of culture, particularly among adults, who consume "childish" content like superhero movies and comic books, while being in the same goyslop and childish entertainment like Nu-Star Trek and Star Wars.

The biggest limiting factor on a post-collapse survival is space. Growing food isn't difficult, and even after a societal collapse we have more than enough tools, seeds, fertilizer, etc to make growing food easier than any point in history. The problem is that even if you have ALL of the knowledge and skills to do it right, if you happen to be in the middle of a city your ability to capitalize on that knowledge is limited by the lack of space to work with. You might be able to make some rooftop gardens or the like, but that won't be enough to feed you, much less else in the same situation who also needs food. it spirals into a failure state almost immediately.
