>Almost never gets talked about now
Unironically what happened? There was a point where it was pulling in the highest ratings on kids TV and was even briefly dubbed the "Pokemon killer" because it was beating out fucking Pokemon's ratings and naive adults thought that would be the end of the franchise.

Recently watched some episodes and falsly remembered it as bland. Its entertaining thanks to the 10 minute segments, the group had great synergy due to their personalities, the advice especially by Tinos mom was great, and I like how ironic the show was about immature choices.

Also I love how Tinos mom jokes about her divorce and Lor is allowed to be canonically dumb... in a Disney show. Gasp.

Damn didn't even pay attention, lowkey sad how hard it fell off literally only truly remember lor as she was my fave. She was so new at the time a super tomboy girl who also had that jock energy but could be cute as well. Now that's much more common.

Wonder why it fell off but probably the typical not being replayed and nowhere to watch. Recess was replayed constantly same with lilo and stitch and other disney cartoons but not weekenders.

The California beach town aesthetic fell out of the common cultural zeitgeist in the mid-00s and quite frankly Disney did a shit job with reruns.

Think that's another thing I remembered most, had that 90s realism and more down to life without feeling overly depressing like adult animation but also realistic and gave actual good lessons that kids wouldn't have heard to often.

Also yeah dumb lor is rare, girls aren't usually allowed to be dumb. Especially in disney they are "weird" not stupid.

California used to be a massive aesthetic, but that place lost it's allure. Shocked how much they have shows there now, literally no one wants to live there besides bimbos.

One of my uncles has a place in cali and bought it for like 15k in the 80s and now it's worth over 1mil. No one wants to be in that place besides people already set in

Also disney does that with everything now, but idk why they fucked weekenders specifically since it used to be so popular

Ah so like all cartoons, man that was how you used to have to watch cartoons online for free as a kid. Does anyone have good quality??? of the series
>>149916966
Probably happened to many series, like TOH and even amphibia. They got no hype but did way better than molly mcgee but for a while they pretended like molly mcgee was the face of disney I was shocked how hard they pushed her.

Also they might have sold the rights as a tax write off or maybe they didn't fully own the series or something which led to them not wanting to waste money. Or as disney usually does they saw it as "hurting" the brand, less we forget for a long time disney didn't have their full archive on disney plus and kept most on hulu to protect the brand. Like the Fox horror stuff or FG and AD which they felt would confuse kids they also only had censored versions of their super hero movies. They are big on "protecting" the brand.
>>149916977
............That's not true at all, reruns are a big part of it as they are getting viewers for free basically. Don't need to make new eps and can re run to hell. By this logic they'd never re-run anything but look how much they used to rerun P+F or GF.

It just kind of happened at the wrong time at Disney for the cartoons. It got 4 seasons like Recess did, but almost half the episodes, and it barely got reruns because within a couple of years, High School Musical happened and Disney Channel was pivoting to mostly live action shows to try and make teen stars.

Meant that whilst the people who watched it loved it, anyone too young at the time doesn't even know it exists. There are many such cases with Disney's TV shows which Disney+ arguably should have solved, but old stuff still gets buried under new content.

I remember that the main blonde kid was the main "narrator", they ate in a different pizza place every week and some of the episodes ideas were cool: Helping the black kid become one of the cool guys, them trying to do stuff each one of them liked instead of something they all enjoyed and an episode where they have a food fight with pudding?
