I think a publishing company should finally take a chance and at least publish the weekly chapters of the comic in English and if they do well release the rest of the series. Do a Kickstarter if they’re worried about losing money. I’m sure there are enough fans who’ll donate to make it happen.

Did trans people hate it?

I liked the show when I saw it about 8 years ago as well as what I've seen of the comic when someone was storytiming it a couple years back. The issue with that creature made from parts of Jose's favorite henchmen was really good.

Strange to think that the trend of turning stuff made for adults into kids cartoons was going into the late 90s.

Show was too censored, the comic is better, the animation was made in Japan yes, but the writing was done by Canadians and they mostly suck at that, it was just a monster of the week show and not a very good one at that, just read the comic, banger OP tho

Opening theme is amazing. There's apparently a full length version recorded but it can't get released for reasons.

I think back then there were not the same cancer we call now trans people. I doubt they knew/care about it. Today's trans have to stick the trans sticker to anything and everything because it's their identity or god knows why.

Great animation. Weird Hana barbera cartoon sound effects. Not so good story.

The intro is awesome and the combo of the wide brimmed hat and cape is stylish as hell. I love the final bit in the opening where she jumps and you see the cape ripple before she twirls. I like the concept of an undercover big titty acrobatic superhuman but I don't recall the story itself having a big impact by the end.

Strange that some publisher doesn't put out the series in English. It must have some fans since it had a short lived cartoon

Show was pretty fun. Never read any of the comics since only a handful of them were translated. Wish the show had gotten another season, but at least it's fun seeing gain some following. Terrible shame about the creators dying. What was the full story on them exactly? I remember reading way back that they got into a spat with James Cameron because they felt he stole the idea for Dark Angel, but the details then were very spotty, with things like they were supposedly working with Cameron, but he betrayed them. Others saying he had approached them. Was hard to tell exactly how much of it was true and what was just online conjecture becoming gospel.

More than 2/3 of the comic have been translated at this time. The last issue is almost finished.

As for the Dark Angel controversy, the creators felt that James Cameron ripped them off and were going to take him to court, but didn't have the money. If you actually look into their claims though, a lot of the points of similarity they brought up were very weak. Stuff like "they're both beautiful women" and "they both wear black", claims like "both characters have feline DNA" when it's never mentioned that Cybersix has any animal DNA in her, and stuff very poorly researched stuff like "Cybersix has her name and number tattooed on her arm. James Cameron's character has a barcode tattooed on the back of her neck". James Cameron did the barcode tattoo all the way back in the first Terminator movie, years before Trillo and Meglia even worked together.

Her brother was a test tube baby like her, fell from a tree and fucked up his body, then von Reichter took his brain and put it in the body of a panther and renamed him Data 7. At no point does Cybersix have animal DNA in her.

Comics are interesting and the cartoon is surprisingly high quality in a lot of weird ways, but neither of them feel like they every fully coalesce into a coherent story. Immaculate vibes, amazing art, aimless writing.

Does seem like a weird hill to die on if that's exactly how it went down. Hell, pretty sure there were other sci-fi works with tattoos on the protagonists before even Cameron's Terminator, or at least similar concepts of them being "branded" in a way if you want to simplify it.
