2003 is the best TMNT show period, and i say that as a big fan of elements like ooze mutants and other fantastical shit from the 87 cartoon and mt favorite character in tmnt is krang.

Also i watched the 1990 movie in theaters this afternoon and i genuinely think its the best ninja turtle content ever. It had no right to be as good as it was

you and I are friends now, Anon
It really is an amazing movie. cleverly written, working so hard to be something deep.. as a kid it's just "whoa, pretty cool, but I like the 2nd one more because it's funnier" then you grow up and you realize "oh.. this movie was about fatherhood, and surrogate fatherhood, and how parents everywhere are terrified of bad influences on their kids, without realizing those bad actors are taking advantage of how distant and absent fathers are. it's YOUR damn fault for not being a good dad, and you gotta step it up and father your damn kids.

god damn right. god, I haven't been glomped in ages.. I always hoped a girl would do that for real, and I made sure my muscles were strong just in case.
It's kinda unfortunate how like, comics raph was NOT going to translate to a saturday morning cartoon, so they basically gave him Mike's personality. Sarcastic, witty, always ready to mock something boring, which left Mike kind of lobotomized. Like he still loved comics and tv, but not because he had an active ADD brain that wanted more stimuli, just because he was a brainless surfer dude.. and sadly every version of MIke since, even 2003 and 2007, followed suit. NOBODY but the movies got him right.. he's SMART, dammit. It's just, Don is the kind of smart where you set him to a task and he finishes it, Mike is the kind of smart where he can't stand being given a task he has to stick with, and would rather be coming up with something else. And they even kept that in the two sillier movies, Mike actually got time to shine a bit in the third. My man Robbie Rist..
meanwhile Raph had a different voice in each movie, but they were all doing the same thing, and all got time to shine. I am so stoked to have Neca's movie TMNT toyline, just because.. man, now I can set up "a little too raph" if I want.

I saw the three movies with my daaaad. it was wonderful, we bonded. he had nightmares about tokka and rahzar. I wanted to take him to the 4th one but we just never had time, work fucking sucks.
What always got me, as a kid with a lot of rage, was Splinter telling Raph how he is fighting a battle with anger all by himself. He doesn't tell him 'stop' he just says 'since you're going to, don't forget us'

also the jokes were great. every moment with Casey Jones was intensely memorable. He was sorely missed in the second one, and it would have been great seeing him bounce off of Perry and comment on how these new mutants aint as smart as the old ones.

2012's Shredder was better than 2003's. There, I said it.
2003 Shredder
>Turtles can match him after 1 season

>Never inflicts any long-term consequences
2012 Shredder

Yeah even though 2003 has some faults, especially towards the back half, it was really fucking good overall. I grew up with reruns of the 80s cartoon and I liked it fine but I think 2003 is just outright the best animated adaptation we've gotten, so I don't think it's just nostalgia or anything.

>Cripples Leo, putting him in a 3 month coma and he needs a crutch for several episodes
>Kidnapped and handed April over to the Kraang, therefore enabling them to perfect the mutagen so they could invade NY, and later still causing her whole psychic possession arc

admittedly I know little about him beyond his origin, but I like that an alien landed on earth and was automatically form-imprinted on whoever found him
so he's literally black for no reason except to be adopted by those people. he's a riff on how lucky Superman was that he landed next to people who not only looked like the same species, but were also the right color for him to blend in with. and how utterly meaningless race is as something assigned to characters, especially aliens.

this, and the fact that his sidekick has the adorable name of Rocket, are ~all that I know about him.~ so if any of this is wrong, please actually correct me, rather than asking if I'm being serious.

Well, anon, Icon is a Milestone character. So he wasn't black 'just because.' It was deliberate choice by a black creator working for a black comic book company to sell to blacks. Him being black is absolutely the point and his background fails if he's not black.

I think the 'purpose' of his background falls flat and the notion that he's only incidentally black falls flat in the wider context.

>the guy who makes a fucking massive deal about his 'heritage' is the same as a guy who literally exists to embody it not mattering
again, if i'm wrong about that, correct me. don't just say i'm being naive about some secret hidden thing that we fucking know is going on and you're a tard for bringing it up when that obviously isn't the subject.

well, not past season like, 4 anyway

I have ALWAYS held that Turtles Forever takes place in the ~toy commercial universe~
think about it
>wrong voices
>shallow characterizations
>a perpetual and conflicting status quo ("we're ALWAYS rescuing April", Technodrome being underground but April being menaced by pizza monsters, etc)
>calling it the party wagon instead of the turtle van

those old toy commercials have their own weird nostalgia. they even have their own separate version of the theme song with a different tune. Possibly weren't allowed to use the TV theme for ads?

Why do I get the feeling you're the type of casual fan who never read the comics but was exposed to the film adaptations instead?
