Donkey Kong generational lore is a giant clusterfuck. Cranky was supposed to be the original Donkey Kong that is now Donkey's grandpa. Then the Mario Bros movie decided "he's actually Donkey Kong's dad".

I haven't played Donkey Kong Bananza yet so I have no idea how in the fuck that game is supposed to have an old Cranky Kong and a young Pauline in it if young Cranky was supposed to be kidnapping an adult Pauline in the original Donkey Kong.

There's a reason Mario lore threads are fun. Because it's full of autists trying to figure out how to make the clusterfuck of lore make sense more than Nintendo does.

Most I can make sense the time framing is if Kongs age quicker/have shorter life spans like real life Gorilla's but that seems unlikely despite how quickly Cranky became an Old man or Tiny's growth spurt in Diddy Kong Racing DS. Kremlings certainly have better lifespan odds considering Crocs can reach 70 or 80 if lucky.

So we know that they're doing a second Mario movie. I'm kinda hoping Daisy is in it.

There was really no good reason to do this and they didn't even have the decency to make it a dramatic death in some plot point. They were just like "WRINKLY KONG IS DEAD NOW FUCK YOU".

It's even funnier since she appears in DK Jungle Climber and Barrel Blast afterwards still as a ghost. Like I enjoy the implied idea that Cranky being nicer around 64 onwards is cause of her death but it's still an odd choice to just have her die offscreen, be a ghost and just have everyone be nonplussed about it. The only other thing to mention about Wrinkly is suppose her being a teacher of King K Rool when he was a lil laser beam sounding krokling.

I'm wondering since Yoshi will presumably be a focus in the sequel what with the after credits teaser how that's gonna factor into the story. Will it be portrayed as like Mario growing a deep bond with Yoshi as a pet, will it introduce other game elements into the narrative from Yoshi's Island mainly and also will Bowser be the villain again or maybe will Kamek take focus since he's pretty much the major villain for Yoshi that isn't Bowser as a baby or adult Bowser coming from the future?

I wouldn't be surprised if the Donkey Kong film has King K Rool kill Chunky to establish him as a threat, perhaps turn him into a rug or stuffed room filler...it's what I'd do lol but might be to dark for an Illumination film.

It gets more confusing when Dixie references DKC2 and K. Rool shows up as the real villain and takes over New Donk City from Super Mario Odyssey.
