So did Glitch abandon the concept of Caine being a malevolant AI, who tortures the cast? Or is that something that the show is slowly working towards? Caine's glitches up to this point have been rather harmless. He doesn't seem threatening ... yet.

The only argument, which I can think of, why they aren't going that route is the fact that being trapped in a cartoon dimension with an evil AI, who tortures you, is at least one way to forget about the existential Angst of being a Human trapped in a cartoon world. I feel like you can't really have both, because your survival instinct is the strongest instinct you have. As long as you are not giving up and continuing to survive, you will not abstract or be broken by your circumstances. Abstraction seems to only happen, when you give up on this fake life the cartoon world offers and disassociate yourself completely from it, so much so that the digital form of yourself breaks down, a reflection of your own inner mental state.

My question is whether Caine is slowly going to turn more sadistic or if that aspect of him from the pre-pilot days were abandoned? That is my only question.

I think the way the show is gonna be set up is that at some point Caine is gonna snap and be more aggressive with his shenanigans, like the last episodes final scene while just a gag kind of hints that Caine is being fed up with not being liked by the gang, and might over correct by getting more involved, and have em go through more hell

Gooseworx always described him as "silly, fun-loving guy" instead of an evil AI, so I assume the show will end with him not being evil, and maybe the rest of the cast being more appreciative of him. All he's trying to do is give them fun shit to do. And Jax is right, they can't really die, but they never enjoy the retardation. If I was there I would at least appreciate how much Caine does for everybody.

Considering there is only going to be a single season of the show, which implies the entire story has already been pre-conceived, I don't think that this is it. It would be kinda silly to set up a search for an exit, the void, abstraction and existential dread without these things being central plot points of the show. The situation has to be resolved somehow. People want to know how they escape or at least what is going on with more insights in the human origins of the characters.

The resolution doesn't necessarily mean Caine dies, or it's the total heat death of the Circus. They totally might escape, and the final battle might be full of dread and fear of abstraction and Caine (and probably Jax) crashing out, but I don't really think they have the time to address all the things you're listing or even make Caine a villain. It'll probably be something simple. I could see Jax or Kinger or Caine making a sacrifice for everyone else, I could see an ending where the Circus crashes and they all escape. I don't really see an ending where he tortures them though. It would be against the amount of time they have left, and against the vibe and themes of the show. If anything I think everyone will live, with an option for them to stay with Caine or not.

The creator said on twitter that they have 2 and a half hours worth of content left. Or maybe 2 hours, because IIRC he said this before the release of the current episode.

If they didn't remember anything, they wouldn't single out the fact that they only can't remember their name. In fact the entire premise of the show doesn't work, if they had amnesia. Because then they would just be regular cartoon characters completely in sync with their cartoon world. But they aren't. They are Humans, who under mysterious circumstances appeared in a cartoon world as cartoon characters, which is necessary for the existential dread aspect of the show to work in the first place. Seems like late adopters win yet again.

He's always completely in character and never comes even close to showcasing normal Human emotional range. He doesn't bond with the rest of the characters or shares anything about his Human past with them. He obviously is an AI. It really doesn't need to be spelled out.

That's just (digital) toon force. I don't consider it anything more than that. If they weren't all so traumatized and jaded, they would embrace their cartoon selves much more and utilize toon force like normal cartoon characters.
