They clearly wanna have their cake and fart on it too by having Hank be out of the country for however many years so he can comment on all the modern stuff as someone seeing it for the first time, but also having him be aware of the modern culture when necessary and use modern day terminology
People also predicted they're gonna make him the "one-of-the-good-ones" type of conservative that comes around and starts #supporting all the modern things and and speaking out in favor of them to teach the viewer a lesson and so far it seems to be the direction they're going in
Mark my words, this show is gonna absolutely hyperfixate on everything culture war related, there won't be much fun Americana shenanigans, pretty much no nonpolitical plots like them taking down a tree or saving someone from a torndanko, and the show is going to go reeeeeeeally hardcore on the "leftwing vs rightwing" divide
A show like this simply can't exist in the modern world where everyone is so mindbroken by the culture war and obsessed with politics, it could exist when it was written at first because back then politics were just a part of life, seeing them in media wasn't so tiring and the writers wrote these characters out of love for the culture they represented while also taking the piss out of it in a friendly jab sorta way, now everyone's brains are flooded with this AIDS and they won't be able to go one episode without showing that they don't actually know who or what Hank is or how to write a cultural divide without it being political
Ok now you may proceed to create headcanons about which side of the culture war I'M on and then fight those headcanons

Yeah you pretty much summed up why I won't watch it. Just hearing they were displacing hank for 10 years set off my alarms. It's as close as they could get.to
>hank hill comes out of the tv and reacts to real life
They should have made a new show.

they need hank to not be in the know about all this modern stuff because if he was, he might've formed a rational opinion on it based on years and years of familiarity with a topic
he has to basically be a newcomer to this culture so he's forced to form his opinion fast and loose based on a complete lack of experience
people don't wanna hear that your opinion good, your side good, your subculture good, from you yourself, the horse's own mouth, a guy who's inside of it all and has a reason to push it... that's why people who wanna push their ideas tend to do the whole "innocent newcomer instantly approves" bit, as if an unbiased party just came along, saw and liked what they saw, but it doesn't work with a fictional character that you yourself are writing
they're gonna use hank the same way all those shitty internet memes use him where they pretend to understand texan family man values but still support their favorite thing like "dangit i dun care if im a stinkin filthy hillbilly i still think those #BLM folks are fine people i tell you hwat!"
bill is gonna be the go-to guy for every weird alt subculture, one day he's gonna be a furry, one day he's gonna get into weird internet pornography, they'll do an ozempic episode with him 100%
dale is the designated eeeeeevil scaaaaaary conspiratard who believes in all those "debunkoo'd conspiracy theories" like MK ultra and covid being made in a lab, basically "LOOK, LOOK AUDIENCE, HE'S SILLY, IF YOU BELIEVE IN THIS YOU'RE SILLY. YOU'RE SILLY DON'TCHA GET IT, YOU'RE SIIIIILYYYYYY!!!!!"
boomhouder is gonna be a forgotten non character who gets about 1 episode per every 4-5 the others get and it's not gonna be interesting, unless they can find some niche archetype to shove him into
peggy is the token woman so she's gonna woman her woman way into every woman issue and woman all over the place while womaning her woman opinions about woman stuff
bobby is the designated conduit for introducing hank to a buncha modern day stuff

The show just doesn't work when reality feels stranger than fiction. Compared to when it was originally airing 15-25 year ago.

Hank in the show already expressed his opinion on topics like racism (he's against it but thinks it's stupid to hyperfixate on it and would not do so himself, in his words, he doesn't think it's right that he can only hate a man if he's hwhite), transgender people (nothing specific but a simple "ugh" and him talking about it to his doctor implies he knows they exist and perfectly understands what they are, and although his general opinions aren't expressed, it can be assumed he at least doesn't much respect em), communism and socialism (hates it with a passion), feminism (expressed his dislike of it to Peggy, Peggy herself also said she disapproves and that she's not a feminist) etc-... This show will proceed to conveniently forget it so that he can conveniently "re"discover it and conveniently form convenient "new" opinions on all these topics, instead of reasonably progressing from the opinions he already holds

Wait people are shocked about this? It was obvious that Judge sold out the second he bastardized Beavis and Butthead from the classic 2011 revival to the new show with the Archer characters, completely ridiculous plotlines which have none of the classic charm, removed half of the cast (probably because Buzzcut and McVicker would be too offensive nowadays) and made it so that instead of Butt-Head being a "smart" but lazy asshole and Beavis being a complete retard, Beavis was actually a poor victim of abuse and was smarter.
This is even worse, because KotH is basically where he's going to push his "opinions". The original KotH already had some very questionable parts (don't cope at me Dalecucks, he 100% was unaware and the show treated it as a joke), this is going to have the main characters learn that everything the crazed progressivists push is actually great whereas the dumb conservatives and "cooonspiranoids" like Dale will be treated even worse.

>instead of reasonably progressing from the opinions he already holds
The only progression Hank would have from his preexisting beliefs in the classic series would be to become more extremist and against them as their degeneracy is revealed more and more. But of course they'll have him be pro-wokism because Judge is a fucking shill and needs more money from hackneyed reboots

First episodes. You have to bring the audience back before pushing the message. If Hank was spouting off woke points by episode one people would call it out easily
Even then, some episodes obviously have themes of that kind already

How did Hank not know about American cultural changes over the past 15 years? Do they not have TV or the internet in Saudi Arabia? Are those U.S. expat cities completely isolated from their own country's culture?

They needed Hank to know nothing about modern culture (Except of course for specific rightwing gripes he's gonna magically know because he needs to express those, like not wanting to be "cancelled", how does he know about modern day culture war slang but not about the existence of something as simple as bubble tea? Uhhhhhhhh, shut up!) so he can be the "unbiased unaware party" commenting on this stuff as if seeing it for the first time

All of your fears are imaginary because we can watch the show and see that it's great. You can't hold these predictions when we can just see that you're already wrong.
