It really depends on the series. There are some genuinely interesting ones that can be creepy, but too much of it is just "Here's a police broadcast about some spooky stuff that happened in a small town, now look at this image of guy's face smiling weirdly, isn't that scary?" The Mandela Catalogue is a perfect example, it starts off with an interesting concept of extra-dimensional beings invading our world through metaphysical concepts, before ultimately turning into le spooky alter shit. They should have just left it at the initial episode and stopped there, it'd probably be remembered more fondly as a scary short video.
