You know, I'm a Millennial so in theory I'm the target audience for this sort of thing, but honestly I don't really like being pandered to like this. I don't want reboots of stuff I watched when I was a kid, I want NEW cartoons that are good. And I want them aimed properly at adults, not at manchildren desperate to relive their childhoods.

Rogen has nothing to do with why Invincible is a success. Its because Kirkman is overseeing his own adaptation. Also The Boys sucks, and so does Rogen's TMNT. Rogen has always sucked and his Darkwing will suck too.

I'm looking forward to this because I grew up watching Darkwing Duck and I'm about as die hard a fan as one can be of a series like this, but the "It's years after the series, Drake is old, Gosalyn is grown up" aspect makes me super worried they're gonna pull a "the next generation, the woman sidekick becomes the focus and constantly shows the man up" with it. And yeah, Darkwing was always an egotistical twit that was constantly being humbled in the original series, but he was also always unquestionably the hero and the focus. I'm praying they don't pull a Rey/Luke or Sylvie/Loki with Gosalyn and Darkwing.

To a lesser degree, I'm really hoping some of the classic villains are still around and they don't hit us with a lame "the Fearsome Five retired years ago" at any point.

I get your worries and sympathize. Like I said if done right it could work, key phrase being done right. It helps that Gosalyn has been part of Darkwing lore since the start and if they keep her reckless nature and let it burn her a few times they can create a good dynamic similar to Bruce and Terry. Though I think Gosalyn is too old to be a Terry-like character she'd be like 40.

I heard Darkwing's creator on Jim Cummings' podcast talking about how he's a creative consultant on it, and how everyone is going YAY iT'S SURE TO BE GREAT,

Same but we've been living in this reboot/remake/reimagine/reduce/reuse/recycle hellscape for the last 17 years now. I just find old media I haven't watched at this point and engage with it instead. Or if I'm feeling nostalgic I'll just watch the original property that has better writing, animation, and frankly everything anyway.
