The older I get, the more I realize that being able to recognize when someone else is stupid, and then be able to worka round it, is a very rare trait. It's especially bad in work environments—people who are only mostly stupid spend so much time seething and raging over people who are completely stupid. Same when Jodi was ignored by a bank until she used her father's name. After that, Daria was sure Jodi would remain mad due to the racism and she got mad when Jodi used that trick in their next attempt for open a business.

This has nothing to do with "wokeness". This is just called being an idealist vs. being a realist. Daria is the former, Jodi is the latter.

The word "woke" has been completely buttfucked beyond recognition—all it ever meant was simply being aware of injustices that generally don't get talked about because they don't affect the median American. The problem is that the world has become so connected that there's really no such thing as "an injustice that people aren't aware of", because mainstream and social media push all this shit as engagement bait aimed specifically at the most mainstream political demographics, which has lead to "woke" being re-defined as some sort of far-reaching, anti-establishment/anti-white/anti-male ideaology and/or agenda.

"Woke" was only "woke" when most people were asleep. Now it's just a nothing word that means "any ideology or institution that I don't like".

The 2 movies bring up its total runtime to an additional 8 episodes worth
So it was about typical for its time

The show was made on the cheap and the licensed music was free, since MTV paid for the rights before hand
