Was this episode SHIT?

It's very self-indulgent and self-congratulatory with the all the celebrities who were eager to be on the popular TV show The Simpsons. Off the top of my head, it may have destroyed the earlier practice of celebrities playing original characters (e.g. Danny Devito, Michael Jackson) and just being themselves to get their dicks sucked.

I believe I heard Julie Kavner found the episode so tacky she refused to perform for it and so Marge is oddly absent from this story.

It's the start of extreme celebrity dick-sucking. They literally wrote Johnny Carson as doing everything exceptionally well because he didn't like the original idea of him mooching off the Simpsons family.
