It's pretty obvious that since the pandemic, /co/'s audience has been skewing younger and younger. Other Fox animated shows seem to retain a solid residence on this board but you don't really see a lot of Simpsons discussion, which is odd because its fandom is historically dedicated to online discussion. Is The Simpsons just alien to the newer generations of /co/?

You're right, in a lot of ways it visually looks closer to the Scully years. The voice acting is so far removed from that era though, my brain has a very hard understanding of how these characters are supposed to sound and it's some uncanny valley shit seeming something that looks like it was animated in 2001 sound like that.

I genuinely think Fox fucked the exposure of the show by not letting reruns of early seasons on Adult Swim. That's where basically most people in the 2000's were watching adult sitcoms. Although I do think kids are now more exposed to it from clips on tiktok/youtube than the kids in the 2000's were.

When Family Guy was at its peak airing new episodes on Fox alongside new episodes of the Simpsons it made people assume the Simpsons was a lot worse because their only exposure to it was the really dogshit episodes. I encountered plenty of kids in school that could quote Family Guy but didn't like the Simpsons because they barely knew about the early episodes, because Fox had it all locked down to DVD releases and reruns on channels people weren't watching.

The Simpsons were a cultural milestone and its period of quality ended before the majority of /co/ was born, so the seasons of the show actually worth discussing have already been thoroughly discussed ages ago.

Meanwhile the "better" newer seasons of the show are basically an entirely different series, and ironically less attention worthy because now the show is just bland instead of a train wreck.

In the early days of the show there was a lot of bootleg chink Simpsons merchandise, mostly of Bart. Fox decided to combat it by mandating that Bart was to always wear a blue shirt on official merch on the reasoning that chinks wouldn't know this so any merch with orange shirt Bart could be assumed as fake.

It baffles me that Family Guy is a thousand times more popular among zoomers than The Simpsons. Stupid generation can't do anything right.

everyone prefers Family Guy and South Park.
