Nerdy high schooler gets the power to transform into a buff gigachad and uses these powers to battle villains in epic fight scenes. He's surrounded by a harem of his hot female classmates who all represent popular quirky archetypes: cheerful ditzy girl, grumpy goth girl, shy girl, mature girl, etc. They share different kinds of relationships with the MC, from being friends to hating his guts, but none seem to see him in a romantic light. However, they all have a crush on his buff gigachad alter-ego. The story is a coming-of-age mix of action and romcom as the MC slowly grows into his own, meets all sorts of people on his adventures, and developes his relationships with his classmates into something more.

This is something I came up with when I challenged myself to think of the most vapid, sloppy, lowest-common-denominator idea for a title possible. Hollow wish fulfillment, not a single original idea to be found, but it would probably sell.

A kid that suddenly gets powers , consisting of transforming in the nearest hero in a radius of 1 km, gaining theor powers and abilities. He lives in Gotham, so he coincidentally comes across with Bruce Wayne one day, transforms into Batman and bumps with Bruce, shocked to be seeing a carbon copy of himself inf ront of him. Then, the boy, named Kevin Campbell, deducts that Bruce Wayne is Batman based on his reaction upon encountering himself. He is them taken in by him and trained to be his body double when Bruce needs to be Bruce. He also interacts with other heroes whenever they go to Gotham. If there's more than one hero in the proximity, Kevin can choose which one to become, but it only workss on the ones he considers heroes

How strict is the "cannot be capeshit" limitation? Like is depicting monsters with strange abilities allowed? Copying manga that are heavy on fights? Having existing characters from superhero works cast in a world without superpowers?

a tight but quirky cast of characters are tasked with investigating strange phenomena taking place in an otherwise fairly grounded modern setting, which can be anything from aliens to urban legends and otherwise
>fairly grounded setting allows you to explore relatable interpersonal drama or other modern ideas that the readers might be able to relate to, maybe with the weird phenomena they investigate relating to this drama or whatever
>putting a variety of characters together in different weird situations generally creates good character moments anyway
>the weirder sci-fi stuff can probably draw an audience into the weirder side of things, and gives you space for reasonably iconic designs like aliens, monsters, etc for merchandising purposes
it's kind of telling in my mind that there's quite a few similar concepts to this out there but like. people loved shit like buffy, x-files, ultra q, torchwood, etc, it's a formula that clearly works and there's a wide variety of ways to take it
