Was this action by Superman justified? Or did he abuse his authority and power?

Vigilantism is inherently taking liberties because the authorities can't stop you.

Honestly I can't remember the last time I heard a person listening to music that loudly in public, even in the city. It's probably more annoying than I imagine.

I will occasionally hear cars drive through a parking lot while buzzing. I couldn't make a guess over what type of music they might have been playing. It was really just buzzing. I assume their car stereo was just too crap to form proper sounds other than buzzing.

It's fine when Superman beats up random people for petty slights but when Captain Marvel beat up a biker in her movie for a petty reason people lost their shit.

Have you just never been out at all? Because while it might not be music there's always someone on their phone either facetiming or whatever else.

Must not have taken many buses or been in any waiting rooms lately. What’s it like to not be inundated with shitty trap music wherever you go?

This was Byrne's Man of Steel relaunch. The fellow in question was a purse snatcher. He was binned because Superman had to rush to a more pressing emergency and could not wait for the police.

Its got a divisive reputation but it was the big reboot point after Crisis that set the ground work for modern Supes. I liked it myself. The trades are in DIRE need of repints though

As much as there's stuff I don't like in it, it is worth reading.

So, supes pulled a spider-man and left the dude for the cops? I don't see an issue with this.

I think OP's question was more about the stereo.

If you read TDKR and liked its portrayal of Superman as a xenophobic stooge of the AmeriKKKan government then you'll love John Byrne.
