Do I honor Moebius in my work?
Moebius is my hero... I've been downloading every last image of his work I can find. I keep a folder open when I am drawing and often reflect on the quality of his work to make sure I have a bar to reach for. Even if it's impossibly high.

I hope I am not too derivative. I do want to be my own person.

This here is my latest drawing. I wish I could talk to him! I know Geof Darrow is still around and he worked with Moebius. Maybe I could reach out to him. Little in this world really inspires me anymore expect these artists. The great ones. They make life worth it.

I do want to make a comic one day as that's where my passion for drawing originated. But I suck at storytelling. Perhaps I could do an Arzach approach and forego dialogue/narration.

I like it, though I don't think it's particularly evocative of Moebius.
I will say it feels like you're covering poor constriction with intricate linework in some regards. Learn how to better construct things like noses and hands. Perspective is also somewhat of an issue.
You're on a good path though, it's just that you don't want to undersell your imaginative ideas and nice rendering with bad construction that doesn't feel intentional.

I could see that. I definitely feel I have some cartoon tendencies. Which is why I tend to think I could get away with producing in the comic world. But I should push through and refine my underlying construction.

the genuine feedback is infinitely valuable thank you

This is gorgeous. Would you ever work on a comic with a writer? If so, what subjects and themes would interest you?

This, in some parts, reminds me of Shintaro Kago.

This has definitely more of a Moebius feel.

All in all, really good stuff. I wish you the best, OP.

Good stuff OP, I think your art is definitely your own, while I can see the inspiration I wouldn’t consider it derivative. It’s good to see people being inspired to create stuff that’s different to the norm. Too much safe, boring art out there these days.

I'd say it's pretty clearly Moebius-inspired, and it's good shit to boot. You're doing good OP.

I've been here for 13 years and I'll be here 13 more, at the very least. There is no better community on the internet. Trust me, I've looked. It's a wasteland of powertripping mods and smolbean sociopaths.

you wouldn't honor him by copying him. his work was unique as yours should be. that doesnt mean he didnt have influences, he simply found his own style. you're on the way though. your art is great. just keep working. illustration or comics, it doesnt matter. then one day you can dedicate your collection to him. godspeed, anon.
