This is the rare Stonetoss comic that is kind of funny because it makes fun of the arbitrary and inconsistent standards for how robots are treated in media. Clanker is a slur. Basically the controversy is that the rush to invent a slur can be seen as a "white culture" thing. All cultures have slurs, but white traditionally being a real caste that was historically protected would opt to call people they don't respect by what they are racially to create normalized boundaries and segregate more effectively. It's not just a "hate" thing, it's a "it's what they are" thing and supports a fundamental separation for these ethnic hierarchies.
