I'd argue that if Massa had intended that to be a factor, then we'd have seen more issues relating to her identity than just being mistaken for a Belgian because of her accent.
Apparently the events of this area aren't canon anymore (or so I've been told), but if the characterization still holds water, then judging from the email diaries her main source of anxiety actually stems from her sisters being adopted:
>maar ik neem aan dat je bloedeigen dochter er niet meer echt toe doet als je ter compensatie twee plaatsvervangers hebt ingekocht
>(MTL) but I suppose your own daughter doesn't really matter anymore when you've bought two replacements to compensate
So in other words, she feels that she wasn't good enough and that her parents adopted Coco and Mymy to replace her; if that wasn't big enough cause for an inferiority complex, one of these "replacements" in particular goes on to mog her not just in sports but in overall social skills, becoming way more popular (she doesn't imagine Coco like an idealized disney princess for no reason, after all), which presumably leads to the simmering resentment we just barely see slip out with the "better no friends than no parents" line.
