I'd say mainly because a lot of Uzi's character design rests upon her props/wardrobe (jacket, boots, hat, socks, choker, even backpack and railgun if you will). If you think about it, Uzi's wardrobe is probably the most complex in the show, even more than Lizzie or even Alice

As much as I love her, if we're sticking to one season I think it would be for the best to cut out Doll. Her screentime can be used to develop the rest of the supporting cast. Make V the main antagonist in 3 so we can really flesh out her motivations and give J and 'Tessa' an actual role to play in episodes 4 and 5. Have them be the ones to trigger Uzi's transformation and steal the keybug. If you really want to keep her than she should be contained solely to Ep 3, and have a smaller part in it so V can shine, similar to Alice in Ep 6.

That's funny, I was thinking the opposite. I'd much rather give doll a better, proper arc, tying it to V and Uzi better. She can struggle more with the death of her parents, slip further and further into her darkness, and maybe even get a moment where she cries describing everything she's been through. On the flip side, I'd have V explore her shattered past self, slowly picking up the pieces, maybe wearing her glasses again, until she finally realizes what she's done and comes to terms with it. Maybe doll still dies, maybe through V's arc she's able to change enough to face Cyn alongside the rest of the gang as we get to the series finale. Either way, doll and V were great, but underutilized characters.

Doll, J, 'Tessa', and to a lesser extent V are all fighting for screen time and can all fulfil similar narrative functions. With the runtime we got, one of them should probably have been cut, or at least had their role greatly reduced. In my mind it works best if it's Doll, but It definitely could have been J or one of the others. You could solve a lot of the same problems by giving J's screentime in 5 to V and in 6-8 to Doll. I'll admit to being biased as a massive J fan. Either way one of them probably has to go.

If you had to pick one, Doll adds more to the story than J. Unless you want to really dig into the J/Tessa relationship in go with the 'she had no idea it was really Cyn' twist she's just another Murder Drone and someone for V to fight in 8. Doll's position as another solver witch and the other parallels to Uzi actually add something narratively. Imagine if V had to fight Doll in Ep 8 instead. It would give a chance for both of them complete their character arcs properly. Maybe V even apologizes for killing her parents. Plus it would give a reason for Lizzy and Thad to be there since they actually know Doll.
