I like Top Cat and Hong Kong Phooey, they are my favorites :)
Also, the action-oriented show characters are very interesting, mostly because they have really great designs done by Alex Toth.

Also they made Wacky Races which was an influence on Japanese pop culture. A more recent example of this would be Mario Kart games.

A highly influential studio that proved that animation can thrive on TV and created characters that are still beloved up to this day. Tom and Jerry are still cultural icons and without Hanna-Barbera, there would have never been a Cartoon Network.
Their biggest sin is appropriating UPA's artstyle and make it associate limited animation with cheap animation.

Their years at MGM doesn't count and should be counted as MGM as outside of a few 1 shots made between Puss Gets The Boot and The Midnight Snack and a remake of Peace On Earth all they did was Tom and Jerry (as much as those shorts are god-tier).
Early Hanna Barbera (1957 to 1963) kicks ass.
1964-1967: Hanna Barbera was still pretty good.
1968-1969: Hanna Barbera was starting to loose it due to all of their MGM transfers retiring and Michael Maltese and Warren Foster leaving the studio, Scooby-Doo himself is debatable but I personally like him and Shaggy.
1970-1984: Crap era due to Bill and Joe putting the studio on auto pilot due to their age, mostly Scooby clones with some actual Scooby mixed in there for good measure, a few hidden good shows are in this era but it's mostly crap.
1985-1992: Hanna Barbera started to get their act together and started to make good cartoons regularly again (for the most part), John K rebooted the Jetsons while Tom Ruegger did a couple of projects for them before jumping ship to Warner Bros.
1993-2001: See Cartoon Network; As by that point Bill and Joe rarely bothered with the actual cartoons anymore (just a few Flintstones projects, the 4 Studio Mook Scooby-Doo DTV movies that only exist because Swat Kats was supposed to go on for another season at least and a Yogi Bear easter special, Joe Barbera even worked on season 1 of Johnny Bravo).

That was Filmation, Hanna Barbera made excellent cartoons during 1957-1963.

I'm glad that cartoons moved away from reskinning studio sitcoms and other live show biz entertainment towards more cinematic direction and conventions.

People shit on HB a lot but they were one of the better studios at the time. Filmation used a lot stock footage as padding. An example is that running animation you see in He-Man also in few other shows like Tarzan. They used a pretty cast for their shows.

I'm sure cheap efficient shots were still shamelessly used but everything about the pacing and delivery of dialogue is more evocative of a film short than a live audience stageplay.

Their Tom and Jerry theatrical shorts still hold up.
Most of their TV output aged poorly. Not only was the animation cheap, the writing and humor is just boring and generic. And a lot of shows were just shameless rip-offs of each other, often even reclycing music and character designs. Only Scooby-Doo and to a lesser extent The Flintstones have really managed to stand the test of time.
The HB of the 90s and 2000s might as well be a completely different entity as far as I'm concerned, but they did good.

For what it’s worth, they managed to make appealing cartoons on a shoestring budget in the 60s.

Kwicky Koala, I remember the show for being bland and the show was a favor to Tex by Joe because he was in a nursing home at the time. Joe decided to give Tex a last chance to make a cartoon.

That was Bill Hanna that offered Tex a job, Friz Freleng at Depatie-Freleng tried to get Tex to work for his studio after the ad company Tex worked at moved it's animation department to Japan to Toei Doga (now Toei Animation) but Bill Hanna outbid Friz Freleng so Tex went to Hanna Barbera during his last days on earth.

Tex Avery also created Cave Mouse, a side character in later Flintstones projects that Dino always tried to catch.

when they* actually put effort into something they were actually pretty good at their jobs, and even their low effort stuff is rarely outright terrible, their biggest sin is mostly that their tendency to overuse successful formulas, often without fully understanding what made the original work(like how none of the "Mystery Solving Teens" shows after Scooby-Doo have a proper Velma equivalent so the casts are unbalanced)

*I'm counting Ruby-Spears for this since they were founded by H-B guys and were only independent for a couple years anyways before they got bought out by H-B's owners and basically became part of H-B again, not to mention both CN and WB have pretty much always treated the Ruby-Spears shows as being part of the H-B library anyways
