What happened to Spider-Man's daughter? Is she dead? Sold to slavery?
Anonymous No.150043887 [Report]
She's probably being raised by an ally of Norman in Europe.

Considering no one wants to touch it with a ten-feet pole, she probably got drowned off-panel.

They were implying she was alive, and that Kaine had rescued her from Norman's minions, but then the storyline did a hard swerve into Aunt May being alive and a prisoner of Norman instead. The only time she's been mentioned since is Millar's run, where Scorpion believes Norman killed Peter's baby.

It's unlikely any Marvel editorial regime is going to allow her to be mentioned again, which will probably never change unless some star talent pitches a story about bringing her back and Marvel wanting to let that star guy do whatever he wants takes priority over their internal rules about how Spider-Man comics must be.

This comic is from the 90's and until now no one ever tried to retcon or even remember whatever happened.
No one will probably bother anyway, and this will always be a loose end in the story.

I wonder if a writer will be slick enough to come out with a new teenage hero with similar powers, red hair, and said to have grown up in Europe but was born in New York. Never acknowledge it. Never tell anyone else.

She doesn't exist. Either because Norman caused the miscarriage or because the marriage didn't happen so MJ never got pregnant. Either way OMD makes this story arc pointless.

Editorial mandate that it never, ever be brought up again. Only ever allowed to be the opening for Spider-Girl.
Anonymous No.150045553 [Report]
The delivery they're talking about is Aunt May. MJ had a legitimate miscarriage and Harras said as far as he was concerned the baby was dead but he also wanted to string readers into thinking it was still alive and could come back one day. He did a similar thing when he had MJ die in a plane crash, but Quesada undid that as soon as he became EiC because he hated the idea of Peter as a widower more than married Spider-Man.

>where Scorpion believes Norman killed Peter's baby.
why would scorpion of all people be privy to this information? Typical millar being edgy for no reason
Anonymous No.150046054 [Report]
>>150045970
This was the same run where Millar decided that Scorpion had insider knowledge on a massive conspiracy where the government sponsors the creation of supervillains to keep superheroes distracted from fixing societal issues. It was stupid and nobody’s brought it up since. Not even Millar, which is weird, considering that a few years later he wrote Civil War and a plot point like that really should have come up.

In the Gold Goblin mini a few years back, Norman includes “the baby” when listing his various crimes. So it’s in a weird state of pseudo canon.

What are you talking about? She had her own comic run. It was great. It was really ballsy of Marvel to retire Pete and let his daughter take over for real.

>Marvel has been pushing female heroes for years now
>Refuses to do anything with the character who headlined their longest running female-led comic
Make it make sense. DeFalco is still doing Marvel books, surely he’d be willing to write some more Mayday.
Anonymous No.150046379 [Report]
>>150046292
The final stories of Spider-Girl weren't even in her own book, but third-string backups in anthology Spidey books. Marvel wanted Mayday GONE, and DeFalco most likely had enough of editorial trying to sabotage him by that point.

It’s the natural conclusion. Spider-Man’s character is ultimately about responsibility, and there’s no greater responsibility than raising a child.

No, the official rule is that there's no greater responsibility than selling your soul/aborting a child to a devil to save your 90-year-old aunt.

>May’s death in the 90’s is a loving sendoff to a supporting cast member who has been there from day 1 but no longer has a real place in the story.
>She dies a dignified death after deciding that she wants to be with Ben and reveals to Peter that she knows his secret and is proud of him.
>This is undone in the most mind bendingly retarded way and those touching final days were just Norman trolling with an actress
>JMS salvages the mess by having May learn the secret ID and becoming a character who can support both Peter and Spidey.
>OMD sends it all back down the shitter.
It’s genuinely depressing.

Millar is the Adam Sandler of comics. The majority of his recent work is zero effort shlock designed for mass appeal and maximum profits, but every once in a while, he reminds people that he is actually good at what he does when he wants to be.

Quesda retconned it out of existence in OMIT. The most you get is "the baby" in the Gold Goblin mini which is vague enough and in an ultimately unimportant book.

Lowe let Spencer go off the rails on a story he wasn't allowed to tell in the first place. Spencer finally broke his years-long silence last year with a podcast interview and said absolutely nothing about what happened with Spider-Man, he knows what he did.

Based on what has happened elsewhere, a version of me that is a writer should aim for just writing a throwaway mini that focuses on two characters I like instead of trying to fix anything. Seems helpless.
