- Time Travelers from the future are narrating the story, they’re touring a museum which details how the JLA were finally defeated
- A supervillain does this by using a magic key to dominate the JLA’s wills so they can’t leave their HQ and are under a one hour time limit to kill each other, and they all don’t know who’s subconsciously assigned to kill whom, and all their powers fail in trying to escape
- Present Superman then displaces his past self, escaping through time rather than space, and past Superman then knows that this gambit works on pain of paradox since the future JLA still live as opposed to present Superman just killing all of them as soon as he got to the past
- It’s also explained that the magic key suppressed the memory of this happening to the future Superman from his past, and that the magic key inhibited them getting any information which could help them from the past or future
- The future is then changed and the JLA won instead of dying, with this being explained that their memories of this event were changed, and they subconsciously knew that the JLA won all along

So yeah, Superman exploits temporal paradoxes through time travel to brute force solutions in time since there are no solutions stated to exist in space. It’s very trippy, but the discussions around this episode reminded me of my first read of it years back. Superman effectively under this logic can solve any problem immediately which he could possibly solve given infinite time, and also has quantum immortality. YMMV with this tho.

It was a good fight, but I realized Death Battle may have forgotten something.
A major factor of Shin Godzilla and Ultima is their ability to adapt their bodies, developing new powers and abilities. Ultima can even see the future in order to pre-adapt.
So if Banner was allowed to use the extended time the fight took to solve the equation, why wasn’t Godzilla allowed to use his extended time to adapt a power to counter the Hulk? For example, a hyper-precise heat ray that hits Hulk’s brain and causes brain death while not actually killing him so he never goes through the Green Door? Or an adaptation of Godzilla Earth’s forcefield that traps Hulk and leaves him unable to move or escape? Or a Gamma Radiation absorbing organ that depowers Hulk by sucking all of the radiation out of him?
Might not have been enough to change the result, but seems like an oversight.

They aren't machines that follow a strict set of rules and they often have different researchers in each episode.

If we assume Death Battle to stay consistent on Soul Eater in regards to Crona, then Maka would vastly outstat Ruby (Mach 9000 Maka vs Mach 500 Ruby, 19 Megatonne Durability Maka vs 4 Tonne Ruby).
However, it isn't impossible that they come up with some sort of wacky number for energy conversion for the Silver Eyes against the giant grimm.
