It was a well intentioned love letter to a generation that doesn't consume this media any more packaged incorrectly as something fit for modern weebs completely unfamiliar with what it's homaging. It's like Starbarians; good production quality, so-so satire of 80s crap, no real audience. Except Harry Partridge is nepo wealthy like Laika's Travis Knight who has no consequence for not meeting commercial success and I'm guessing Speedoru is actually trying to build a career off this, when YouTube has castrated most online animators.
I'll be honest, I don't care for this show because he's aiming at nostalgia for garbage and his ability to parody didn't translate into knowing funny as its own thing. He needs to stop leaning so heavily on genre and figure out what comedy actually is, or accept a role animating other peoples' ideas. Kiss la Kiss was funny but this is just sludge.

This picture is 95% of the show concept and 15 years ago in the age of Flash toons it would have ruled. Times changed and honestly a number of his contemporaries upped their game since or dipped into becoming streamers.
But most of all he needs to think hard about his intended audience who aren't him and his circle of friends.The community who'll make him successful didn't grow up watching "Stenchy Puyo Puyo Princess OW," won't catch references to it and don't care. Maybe stop pandering to weebs.

even with the cool animated action scenes this show still feels flat with the characters and writing, those COULD have been overlooked if it was given an interesting overarching plot but it clearly doesn't have one and it'll probably go bankrupt before they can change that.

why do people think this. I didn't grow up with I Love Lucy, but I could absolutely recognize a parody/homage to it when I was a kid. Same goes for silent movie tropes references to Gone With the Wind, or spoofs of crime noir films. Some of the finer details may be more appreciated by people who actually grew up with shoddy fandubbed VHS rips, but the general joke is not lost on younger viewers and the show is completely enjoyable without having that specific lived-in frame of reference.
