On Bluesky, Alex DeCampi posted that Image Comics’ accounting email got hacked leading to a Russian scam site from an email that was sent over the weekend. This scam site apparently is meant to steal data or get finances from already struggling comic creators in the comic book field.

She posted, “Hey @imagecomics.com creators—looks like the accounting @ email address got hacked. DO NOT click the link you got sent this morning by Sue Korpela (it goes to a Russian site) and don’t reply. Hopefully as soon as the west coast wakes up this’ll be sorted out Please RT, comics folks.”

While it’s unclear how many received this email, one creator noted he wasn’t even affiliated with Image Comics and received the email

Another, who is the colorist for Keanu Reeves’ BZRKR comic, said he clicked the link.

Used to work at a distributors and Image people would regularly get hacked and wonder why we weren't responding to their emails because they were getting flagged and sent to spam.

Why shouldn't Russians be gathered up and executed? What is the downside? There'd be less trolls, less wars, less BBC posting, non Israel half of /pol/ dies, name good thing russians add to the world.

I used to talk to de Campi back in the early 00s. She used to post on Warren Ellis' forum and was a dickriding sycophant. Amazing how once she got the tiniest bit of influence in the industry she became a raging cunt. Back then she would have sucked your dick for even a hint of relevancy.

It’s crazy to me anyone would suck dick or even hint at sucking dick to make it in the comic industry. It’s like saying you’ll suck dick to work in the dairy department of Walmart. We live in an age where literally anyone can put out their shitty comic book without a major publishing house. And even if you do get in at a major publishing house it’s not like you’re gonna make actual money, Image books not written by Kirkman or owned by Todd hardly ever make it past ten issues and anything you do at DC or Marvel will be owned by them lock, stock, and barrel.

I mean we are talking early 00s bubble of comic writers, nerds, fangirls and the internet. From the outside it looks like fucking nothing but instead you have creators treated like rockstars. And if you're an arty liberal arts nerdy person, you don't want to be a poser you want to be published. It wasn't like you could just hop on Youtube and become a video essayist like now. People wanted to get into the industry and you could literally talk to successful people to do that.

The three accusers were:
>Young girl who was encouraged by her BF to talk to Piskor, was an artist herself, felt she was being "groomed" but said he did nothing illegal, she was over the age of consent, didn't want a pile on or anything and distanced herself from the people coming after Ed, only like three comments were bad but in context they weren't (e.g. one was talking about Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas looked bad but less so in context). They talked for a while about art and stuff then fizzled out then ages later talked a bit more. The most Ed did was invite her to stay round if she ever went to the local comic event but he had done this for others.
