There was a Kids Next Door fanfic I read once (I don't remember the title) in which the writing was TERRIBLE, absolute sewage writing... but I actually really liked the story premise.
A few years after the events of the show, Numbuh 1 is back on Earth (it just ignores the Galactic KND stuff) and his parents die, so he has to go live with his closest relative, which is Father, so now Numbuh 1 has to spend a lot of time with the villains, and they begin to be kind of like the devil in his shoulder that makes him get second thoughts about being decomissioned, because he is getting close to the age where he becomes a teenager. This also causes Numbuh 86 (who is dating Numbuh 1 in this) to also begin having second thoughts; later in the story Numbuh 1 finds out that he also has Father's fire powers because they're related (and it covers him in a black suit when he uses them), and Numbuh 86 at some point needs to protect Numbuh 1 without being recognized by the KND, so she steals a custom green version of the Teenage Ninja armor, and the two kind of accidentally become double agents because Numbuh 1 in the black suit and Numbuh 86 in the armor are mistaken as being new villains, and the two start using that to kind of play both sides.
Again, this is not a well written fic, it is TERRIBLE, but I love the premise so much that I just kept reading it, despite the writing being awful.
I really want a fic with this same premisse, but well written.
