Get ready for a huge animation downgrade, every reboot and revival of this decade had a significant downgrade in animation quality cause of how shit our animation industry has become and how much retarded normies don’t give a shit about quality.

The Phineas & Ferb and King of the Hill revivals look like they were animated by DIC Entertainment, this will be the same shit.

At least they aren’t reviving one of those shitty 2010’s beanmouth shows this time.

This. I never liked how they treated adults either. I was okay with and even friends with most adults in my life and kids were always little shits so the show never felt right to me. I liked the gadgets and their treehouse but the concept was just too stupid for me to get around. And the weird topics they chose to write about were super cringe a lot of the time. Numbuh 5 and her sister were probably the best characters though, their episodes were probably the best in the show, and they were the only ones that made a lasting impression that I still remember.

Still seems weird to me that "wholesome" ToonHive uses the Nazi app. If you want to bitch that Snoop Dog thinks there's too many gays in cartoons, and make posts about artists' rights, you really shouldn't be using the site that throws artists' work into AI, owned by the guy that Nazi-saluted at inauguration.

Anyway, I'll believe GKND is happening when I see it. Even with all the reboots and crap going on, this just feels farfetched. Even Goddamn GARGOYLES managed to get a comic sequel, and we're still hearing "any day now, GKND!" Hell, the target audience of the original show have kids now. At absolute most MAYBE we could get an "Enter the Florpus"-one-shot-movie but TMNT 2012 should get one first.

Because most of them are just cashing and don't channel the original property at all, and words of
>whoa this one's ACTUALLY good!
are usually from people that are willing to settle for less if it means something is being produced that's somewhat recognizable. Like those Invader Zim comics a decade ago: competently made, but were completely unable to capture the show's energy in print form (an admittedly hard task), and people sucked em off anyways

This came out when I was in Middle School and by then I was starting to only watch CN for Toonami. Found the show agitating but I think that was more with the fact that I was well into puberty so felt things a 6-10 year old would do as cringy and annoying.

THAT WAS LIKE 5 MINUTES OF THE MOVIE. THE SHOW HAD NO OVERARCHING MESSAGE, IT WAS JUST
>what if kids turned their kid junk into james bond and fought supervillains based on adulthood and stuff kids hate
>that'd be pretty funny

Because they're not going to give him a second show. Craig Mccracken has spoken many times about how he pitched a whole bunch of new shows and no one wanted any of them. They just want him to make Powerpuff Girls and Foster's.

I hated Kids Next Door because for starters the art style is shit.

Secondly the premise made the main characters unlikable cunts and the whole idea that kids are normal but in reality kids created the adults in a parody of The Matrix was fucking stupid even for fiction. Even the final episode went on preaching that growing into adulthood is a disease that must be fought. That kids MUST remain infantile forever like something out of Peter Pan. I just hated this shitty show. Everything about its themes don't make sense, are insulting even to kid viewers, and its trash.

And even worse this show inspired a shitty fandom of obvious pedophiles who I hope die horrifically. Kids Next Door is the precursor to Loud House.

Always hated this cartoon and I cursed its creator. Hope all people who worked to make Kids Next Door die brutal deaths. Also in particular FUCK the Fountain of Youth episode with that gross disgusting ugly teeth Woman Child who was pretending to be a little girl for multiple generations to hang out with actual children.

Yeah Rugrats is garbage. I never saw why the show needed to be about babies who don't act like babies. They should have been kids like in Hey Arnold able to socialize and communicate. And what I find amusing is that the writers thought creating Dil was ever a good idea, a literal baby who does act like a baby. In the context of Rugrats whose babies don't act like babies.....Dil is the RETARD of the group. And no one likes the character who is an outcast like that.

This for me. Didn't help that at the time I was watching cartoons like the first Ben Ten and I thought Grandpa Max while not perfect was totally chill and I liked that Max used to be a soldier who fought alien criminals so his life experience helped support Ben his grandson into fighting different alien criminals.

So by comparison I really fucking hated Little Shits Next Door with their anti adult overtones.

I think people are a bit nonplussed because
A. This is nothing really new, it isn't going to actually be a show yet (if ever) and it's still Warburton trying to stoke those dying coals in the hope he can somehow convince the suits to pick it up despite the last big hurrah he tried amounting to zilch
B. A lot of revivals happened between now and when GKND was first announced and they were mostly just kind of crappy.

It's hard to react to it beyond apathy because it's nothing new and a revival no longer has the luster it once had.

I feel like that would be the crux of the plot and there's also the chance he's playing triple agent or whatever. We really don't know much about this beyond the brief teaser so it's hard to really judge it without much of a context.

Yeah, it's a fun show with a lot of pastiches of movies you might not have watched as a kid. Like I didn't even get that they straight up made an episode that was a direct parody of one of the Animatrix shorts until many years later and it's a lot funnier with that context because of how close they follow it.

He tried pitching a book a year after KND ended, and that didn't get anywhere. Just couldn't compete with his buddy Mo Willems
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MhgBNadtNzs
The Fido Dido style was dying off in the late 2000s, and KND was the last show to use it.

He's worked on a bunch of different shows, it's just that the industry is in such dire straights that the only chance these guys have at being a showrunner of their own projects these days is if they dust off their old IPs and cash in on the nostalgia bucks. Maxwell Atoms tried and failed to do the same with Billy and Mandy not that long ago.

Pepper Ann was before KND and it wasn't his show. He just did the designs. Sue Rose was the actual creator behind Pepper Ann. I bet people don't know she also created Angela Anaconda, and Nickelodeon's Unfabulous (The show that launched Emma Roberts career.)

Also this is more of a modern issue. Craig had no trouble launching multiple new IPs in the past, but these days studios just want familiar brands.

Both Maxwell Atoms and Warburton were just lucky their shows were greenlit from being the most voted short on in CN's Big Pick contest.
Being there at the right place and right time despite only having experience working outside of CN/WB.
Imagine getting mediocre cartoons like Foe Paws, Uncle Gus, Lucky Lydia, Major Flake, or My Freak Family as shows over those?
You don't get these opportunities anymore with cable dying and streaming rising.

Its kind of funny. Given that streaming needs an endless supply of trash you would think they'd have more chances but animation is the industry that's struggling the most due to streaming. Western animation specifically since anime already having a consistent content stream benefits streaming a lot.

It's doubly sad because they're both workhorses that have done good work on other shows as well but for whatever reason they're just not a hot commodity with the suits so they have zero chance of getting any of their pitches off the ground these days.

I think anime has contracted significantly since the 90s as well, it's all a bit of a microcosm of all the macro problems causing shit to get worse generally. It's the same reason people all over are having less kids or being unable to own houses like their parents or grandparents could. Shit is fucked in so many ways and this is but one reflection of it all. Also streaming in general while being a boon for the consumer (at least in terms of usability and access anyway) has utterly decimated so many traditional avenues of revenue and subscriptions just don't cut the mustard but the genie is out of that bottle and there's no real way to go back, a real double-edged sword.

The anime industry has its own problems sure, but as far as streaming is concerned its still a consistent stream of content since the seasonal cours mean a healthy selection of shows area always starting around the same time each year.
