Befriend Pomni and Kinger first first since everyone there likes them the most. Then befriend Jax by playing along with him without being too mean to the others and without acknowledging his feelings, but not disregarding them either, since he'd be the biggest stumbling block. And if Jax has a friend he's not corrupting I think it would be easier for everyone else to get along with him. Then just be nice to Gangle and Zooble will follow. Finally flirt with Ragatha. And make sure to humor Caine and make him feel appreciated and offer him help with understanding humans.

I would treat Ragatha like a princess and always forgive her faults instantly no matter what. I will tell her that she's doing everything right, no matter how toxic she was. When she starts to think it's weird and creepy I'll tell her I love her and make her understand this is what real love is like.

So yes technically I do have to come off as creepy, but only for a moment. When I tell her I love her everything will change for her.
Idk about how to befriend any of the others. I guess for Jacks I would basically copy Pomni in the latest episode except I would have actually shot him when he asked. And if the same situation does end up happening where he "crashes out" I will just not give up on him. The next day I will act like nothing ever happened, business as usual.

Jax is completely misunderstanding what Pomni is getting at here. She's asking if he thinks people abstract because they start dehumanizing themselves, but Jax feels guilty, so he takes her words to mean something like an accusation that his behavior, that him treating other people inhumanly, is what causes them to abstract. And he says everyone else did that too. So that begs the question. Why did everyone isolate Kaufmo like that, anyway? I don't know if it's just pilot weirdness from before Goose got help writing from real humans, but you really get the feeling everyone didn't care about Kaufmo much at all and didn't really seem too sad to see him abstract, except *maybe* Gangle. They were more concerned what it meant for themselves, if that. The funeral at the end of Episode 2 seemed more like backtracking on how the pilot introduced things, like they realized while they were writing "wait, shit, we wrote everyone except Gangle like complete psychopaths." But I'm rambling, the point is, that funeral scene *did* establish that they all cared about Kaufmo, regardless of how the pilot was written, yet they *still* isolated him from the rest of them to the point where he gave up and abstracted. Why?

You're right about jax misunderstanding, but his line about how people get unpleasant before abstracting is important world building. It explains why in the pilot they were sort of dismissive about kaufmo and why they were sad at the funeral. They clearly like him, but once he started to go nuts, they tried to humor him at best and avoid him at worst.
However, it would seem that jax is the only one who notices this behavior. if the little dialog there has been about the subject is anything to go by, the others seem to miss the cues, including kinger. Or maybe not, not has been made of it since the pilot.

Quick list of how i think each merc would do in the circus

1. Pryo - He's in heaven no ifs and or buts this is a paradise because he can set all the fire he wants with no issues along with a constantly changing world.
2. Scout - He enjoys the adventures though i do think after some time he'd get kinda sick of all the kiddie shit and want something else.
3. Medic - I think he enjoys it just because if he could he'd have talked caine into letting him do experiments on the npcs and see what happens.
4. Soldier - I could see him enjoying some of the adventures but also if they mention being in another country that isn't america or the adventure requires them to be something other then american he'd hate it.
5. Demo - we've seen them drink before so i think he's fine on the drinking end side of things but i think he'd miss his grandma too much plus he'd hate if his best friend wasn't there with him.
6. Engie - I think he'd use his many phd's to try and either create an escape or mess with caine's brain enough to where he gets admin controls but what he does is up in the air from there.
7. Heavy - He wouldn't despise it like the last 2 on the list but i think he'd feel it's much too childish and would rather be reading russian literature.
8. Sniper - The only fun i'd see him having is when caine gives them guns on adventures if he isn't shooting someone's head off i see him more or less just keeping to himself grumbling.
9. Spy - He would despise the circus and in all honesty try and kill caine on multiple attempts seeing if he dies if the circus would shut down. I also expect him to constantly skip adventures and even try to hide from caine by pretending to be an npc.

I never really got the impression that Kaufmo was isolated by the others, it struck me more like he was pushing everyone else away. I think everyone's somewhat blase reaction to Kaufmo's abstraction is more just an unfortunate consequence of the pilot needing to juggle so many things at once. I think this is because of Pomni and are Pomni specific. Jax noticed that they all fall into archetypes, which in the writing points he doesn't look beyond that and see them as people. But he is right that they all have avatars fitting how they feel about themselves. Pomni's is yet explored. I think Pomni feels lonely and unloved, which makes her see herself as sad jester. Entertainer that nobody cares about. You see glimpses of this in episodes, but the fans haven't yet connected the meaning to Pomni specifically.

Jax thinks himself as lovable jerk, bugs bunny.
Ragatha is built and controlled by her mother, rag doll.
Kinger is the leader responsible for everyone, king.
Zooble is ever changeable mess without identity, Zooble.
Tangle buries her sadness for not following her dream, tragedy and comedy masks.

Since I've got the same fucked up wheels in my brain as Jax does, it's yes and no. He tries really hard to convince himself that he means it. That's how it works. After the part where Pomni gets mad he gets all the cards to tell himself "this one is just trying to crack your code and get into your head" which is why he becomes so ruthless.
Honestly I think the reason why he hates Ragatha so much is that types like Ragatha are absolute kryptonite for people like Jax but all it takes is ONE little fuckup to get a nuclear reaction because it registers as total betrayal.
But that's just speculation.
