You do know dudes like Shonen right? The point is the male characters are the driving force of the story. The female characters are eye candy. However.....Nomura is real bad at doing eye candy UNLESS someone is forcing him. Tifa's creation is Nomura having his drawing skills FORCED. On his own he designs the blandest most lackluster bitches ever.

And Kingdom Hearts won't really bring in male consumers because it really is badly written trite. If original series like Nickelodeon's Avatar Last Airbender gets criticized especially for the awful writing of the third season then something that looks like badly written fan fiction such as Kingdom Hearts is going to struggle with audiences.

The only reason Kingdom Hearts has survived for so long as its gameplay. Take that away and the horrid writing is the only thing that remains.

The writing of Kingdom Hearts lost me when they kept doing shoddy ideas like...

The main characters getting many clones of them. And in some cases like Yozora he's no one's clone but he looks eerily like Riku's clone while claiming that how he looks is fake. Yeah....confusing right?

Time travel was also a bad idea.

Reviving the dead character is another bad idea as I feel there are no stakes in the story.

If people can enjoy the writing then go for it, but not for me.

Listen guys, the reason why any KH project got canned is despite it obviously being known internally as a big property to the point where they get actual disney animators and consultants working on new installments now, Disney cant necessarily do anything with it without Nomura's say so. Im not sure if Disney owns a partial share but even if it were all of it really they kind of dont want to mess with a good thing, not under Nomura's watch anyway. Until the franchise is retired by Nomura they dont want one interprentation of the brand tainting the main show, this goes back as far as the KH Disney show cancellation, the one anime they were trying to make that had its art leaked a while back, all the way up til that Disney mobile game that was being made but got scrapped cause Nomura was making his own mobile game. For whatever reason, they wanna let Nomura be the guy in charge of this ship for better or worse, so any show or spinoff that doesnt involve Nomura is just out of the question

Sure some Donald Duck shorts made between 1942 to 1947, Goofy 's 1940s (How to X) and 1950s (Goofy is a dad) shorts, Roger Rabbit and the Genie from Aladdin kicks ass, Darkwing Duck has it's legit funny moments, Bonkers is Disney trying to be Warner Bros and while it's not as good as legit Warner Bros programing from the same time (Animaniacs) it it legit and it getting a fan base on Disney+ just like Darkwing Duck and Timon and Pumba slaps but Disney tends to be tee hee funny at most and not ha ha laugh out of you seat funny like Warner Bros.

You watch Disney for it's lush excellent animation and original musical numbers, not for it's humor, story wise you got to read the Floyd Gottfredson, Carl Barks and Don Rossa comics for the same type of writing they you get from Michael Maltese, Tedd Pierce and Warren Foster from Warner Bros.

To be fair to the autists, Disney IS the longtime leader in theatrical animation in the US. The problem is that they have no competition and those that do rise up just copy the leader and make the same by the numbers family movie. There’s a reason why teens and younger adults are gravitating towards anime: A lot of it is actually made for a target demographic older than 10.

maybe there really was something in the whole "what if mickey mouse was like, dark and edgy" thing. like entirely seriously with some of the shit that younger people are into (fnaf coming to mind especially) i feel like a "new gen kh" would probably turn a lot of heads
as is though i think the current series is unfitting for that, mostly because there's this cultural perception that the chronology's opaque and entirely nonsensical and also that most of their stuff isn't either cheap or f2p. like if you were to do an entirely seperate series with the same concept you'd probably draw the most eyes with something like a rivals-esque hero shooter and that'd never go anywhere in the long run
