>How terrified were you watching it?
I hated it. I made the mistake of getting excited for its release. I figured even if the film wasn't that great, the amount of different test ships they released as toys meant there would at least be a bunch of cool spaceship stuff. Instead the film blew through all the spaceship stuff in the space of about 15 minutes, the rest of the film was just Buzz being lead around by a bunch of brown "characters" for the majority of the film, and as the movie went on I grew increasingly aware that they were going to do the one thing that would be unsalvageable. The COMPLETELY fucked up Zerg, and I have a theory as to why. They couldn't completely shit on Buzz because he was the hero of the picture, so they just made him flawed like you normally would with a hero, and then kept him out of the picture for as much as possible in favour of the brown chick that is clearly the writer's intended main character. But then they figured it out, they made Zerg an alternate version of Buzz and made him out to be the bad guy (even though his goal would have actually saved everyone on the planet at best, or just created an alternate timeline at worst). which meant that they were able to make the only white main character (and basically only white guy in the entire movie), who is supposed to be the hero of the picture, that kids are supposed to look up to and make him the bad guy. It's actually kinda brilliant in how fucked up it is.
Long story short the film was insultingly bad, I hated almost every second of it, and I haven't watched anything that Pixar have made since.
