Why is this show such a disappointment?
Admit it. After the first episode you were expecting much better.

But it went off in a pretty boring meandering direction didn't it?

No, put away the copium buddy. It had a lot of potential, but regardless of flashes in the pan, you know what I'm saying is true. I'm as disappointed as you are, and now it's time for all of us to just be honest, okay? Everything will be alright. Take a deep breath and let it out.

This is why. The characters make zero attempt to leave, they don’t even discuss the properties of the place they’re living in. It’s a show about living with mental illness, but the characters address it in the most boring and exhausting way possible while ignoring the literal overhang of being trapped in a virtual world.

How exactly was it meant to be better? What exactly did you think the plot was going to be?

That it would actually have some semblance of one? At least in some greater context.

It's like watching someone walking through the Backrooms without any greater context of the Backrooms being a thing - and if the Backrooms weren't actually all that liminal and interesting.

This. I brought this up before but fujo faggots just pile in on how that is not what the show is about and it should be pure relationship drama
>the first and second episode was to show there was no escape and that it's pointless anon
>it's based on IHNMAIMS so they CAN'T escape anon
>n-no I didn't read IHNMAIMS and its ending how, could you tell?
Goose is trying to re-tease shit with Caine's photos but the ship has sailed at this point. We already know Kinger's role and the mysterious mannerquin has been practically forgotten about in its entirety in relation to the plot. Even Orbsman being teased as an old NPC is not used to elaborate further on the Circus's early days.

It's shit.

Characters are stuck in a computer world, they have to deal with it while Caine sends them on some sort of adventure or game each episode. Through these scenarios, we see the characters express more of themselves, develop personally, and develop their relationships with one another.

It's an episodic set up like a sitcom or older cartoon, while still hinting at an overarching story.

So again, what was it supposed to be about that would've made oh so much better?
Anonymous No.150061206
>>150061171
It’s clear Goose didn’t have much of a plot planned out besides the probable final episodes because you can cut out everything so far after the first episode and nothing would change. Who gives a shit about the relationships they’re in if they don’t do the fucking basics of talking about their situation

>So again, what was it supposed to be about that would've made oh so much better?
When the relationship writing sucks viewers tend to try and find something else to look forward to. When there isn't any and it is supposedly the entire show despite early teasing that is when people start to think it is pure shit. Goose should have hit the ground running with the sitcom theme if the world building was not going to be important, but they didn't. They spent the early episodes teasing about the world building with mysterys and then dropping it.

Episode 6 is a total bore tainted by the writing of a cat lady who can't write anything interesting or fun so she just opts to project all the group therapy sessions she has on a daily basis onto a cartoon instead of being creative because she is a total freak IRL who probably fucks dogs or grooms children or worse and needs constant reaffirmation that she is not a freak and is just like every other normal human being in the world.

It's the writer's poorly disguised coping mechanism.

It just feels very offbeat for me, ever since the start of the second episode.
The pilot also suffered from this by how akward the whole conversation with the Zoink Queen felt but at least you had the secondary more interesting plots about Kaufmo being abstracted and Pomni facing the weird digital hellscape.

But since the other episodes focus on the adventure, the details are more noticeable. The funny moments land a little thick, even a little forced, sometimes while pausing everything just to let the viewer know that this is the moment to laugh (except you don't have the laugh tracks for better or for worse), the conversations can feel uncannily real, in the sense of how uncomfortable sometimes they talk, and the horror aspect got... Kinda watered down?

I don't know, I think It's that the own show's aesthetic sells you a more frenetic, wacky rAnDum type of rhythm but it delivers something more slow cooked and that's why it feels like a drag.

Just because gooseworkz has made great stuff before, i wasnt a fan of his before TADC but i have since done research. i think he just wanted to make something simple, it not like the plot of TADC is fucking a new concept. "People get stuck in their computer and the computer wants them to stay." ok neat good start, and i think the "Flash in the pan" bit is overkill because if you set off all your fireworks at once so speak, you have to get new ones, and unless you know how to get as many as the first big you set off, unless your really damn lucky, and i mean fallout new vegas luck 10 you just jojo stepped by quarry junction from sloan on your way to new vegas lucky, i dont think Goose can keep up with the demand of a fanbase that wants to rip his nuts off if his characters arent the way fanbase wants.

Cant he just make a show without having to play god, its not like Goose is trying to rewrite the epics, he wants to make silly characters and thristtrap the fanbase with ragatha and maybe pomni, thats one's still up for debate, but let the man cook, even if the food is burnt hes not gonna stop, and he shouldnt, everyone should be allowed to have a voice, isnt that what youtube was made for?
Anonymous No.150061609 >>150061672

Youtube stopped being that kind of platform a long time ago.

Anon's are just trying to either justify why they like it or convince themselves that they don't like it and viceversa.

The show has it's charm, has an interesting concept and cool characters, but fails in so manny things.

And since it got popular and Jewtube being the place that it is, and Glitch having released the amount of merchandise they had... Manny want to believe these faults are due to this being a passion project badly implemented and not simply an attempt of a cashgrab using slop, but at this time of history none can be sure anymore.

This is multiplied by Goose being a troon and this being considered the "Future of Indie Animation" that manny so desperately want in this corpo-slop dominated, heavily politicalized landscape.

So yeah, it's all just anons tryingn to cope with their hope or lack thereof

I've been saying this ever since Episode 2 which is possibly my favourite of the entire show, it should have been a psychological thriller with pomni trying to stay sane while inevitably descending into madness with hints of the nature of the code that built the circus and using those to eventually figure out the truth, are their real bodies unconscious? Does time move faster in the circus so it feels like they been trapped for years when really it's only been 3 hours? Etc... instead it became another victim of the "shipping wars" syndrome, I don't get why almost every show nowadays turns into shipping wars man

I’m pretty sure right from the start they said it was going to be more character driven than lore heavy which kind of begs the question, why even have the setting BE the setting that it’s if it has no real importance to the story? The could have had the story be about kids at a summer camp and the plot largely would stay the same. Being a virtual game hardly had any bearing on the story

The gap in quality is where disappointment happens. The episode length doesn’t do them any favors in regard to the pacing and timing of the writing, there are more opportunities to fail (as well as succeed).
