What happened to guns in kids cartoons? Unless there are a couple that had them in the past 20 years, it's been so long since guns have been in kids cartoons. The old Disney Afternoon shows had guns (usually used by hunters or bad guys or police) and they helped make the stories more interesting. I was rewatching a TaleSpin episode recently and even though I had seen it before, I was blown away by all the gunfire, as it made for an intense, yet still lighthearted situation and Baloo and Kit didn't get hurt either, so it was fine

S+P went full retard in the mid-00s which is why cartoons from that time suddenly got a lot more sanitized and networks stopped airing reruns of cartoons that had been in rotation for decades.

I've been asking this since forever, we went backwards from pushing the boundaries of maturity allowed in cartoons

Literally everything in popular culture is less mature than it was 30 years ago. Everything.

Once the Columbine incident happened in 1999 in the United States, you can kiss your guns from cartoons goodbye.

Hollywood is full of gay people and the Republican party used to be against gay marriage and they're also the pro-gun party so Hollywood had to be anti-gun at the time.

What a weird thing to ask for. Spider-Man didn't have guns. They had laser pistols. And the Gargoyles episode where Broadway shot Elisa was banned for a little while before being edited and returned to television.

Disney fully ban guns starting in the early 2000s
You can see the shift from 90s to 2000s how they tried to adjust some characters
