Was RWBY ever big? Or was its success limited to just the trailers?

Yeah it was. As flawed as it was, it was the only good serialized western animated action cartoon with a female cast.

Back then, you had totally spies.

It was kind of niche, but somewhat well-known. More people probably heard of it than actually seen it.

RWBY had a fucking crossover with the justice league and that one even got a dub in my country where only the cheapest to legally get movies get dubbed alongside blockbuster superhero animated movies. It even has more episodes and runtime then most good shows combined.

"good"

They're both owned by WB, my guy. It's not an accomplishment, and was done to drive up interest which failed.

>Was RWBY ever big?
Yes
Back at the day it was big enough to be considered annoying
It's one of those web series that came out a bit too early, if monty was alive and made the series around 2020's i gurantee you it would exploded as another example of "indie animation"

K. Why should that matter?

Boys watched that because they were horny for the girls, bro. Don't get it twisted.

I've said it a million times before, but RWBY was only popular because in the early 2010s, youtube was actively deleting any anime they could find off their platform, and shit like Crunchyroll hadn't become totally mainstream yet. You search for the latest Naruto episode, and eventually through scrolling, you'd find RWBY. "Close enough," people said.

Considering that everything went down the drain after volume 3 and that the series was only causing losses for the company, they decided to sell the IP...

I can’t believe they ended the series on a 15 minute rant from Ruby about ethnic cleansing and the importance of the heteronormative lifestyle to growth of society.

I would assume it is The Amazing Digital Circus or Helluva Boss famous. Not famous enough for the joe schmoe, but famous enough in certain circles to have an impact. I think it helped it was when Rooster Teeth was at this insane levels of popular/connected compared to most internet based companies Dropout is probably the closest thing. So that influence is what allowed for games to be made, manga adaptation, a cameo in a fighting game that actually had impact and obviously getting an anime spin-off even after the peak of popularity.

He was a fun character, made better because the writers love seeing him suffer.

Wonder how the new series/next season will handle the rusted knight stuff.

>the newest TADC episode has 62 million views
>the Red trailer has 17 million
Are you sure about that? Though, I think >>150068459 may be on to something.

Have of the show's problems would've been solved if he and Ruby had some personality traits flipped; missed opportunity on the show's behalf for not having the genki main protagonist be the viewer's guide to lore.
Ruby having to find out what's aura and semblance because she spent most of her time just fighting through retard reflexes and strength is a missed opportunity.

The first three seasons were bootstrapped using an engine that wasn't even designed to support ANY animation, let alone the intricate fights that they were after. Poser is a goddamn nightmare and the only reason they were using it is because Monty had inexplicably tied himself to it for years and got used to all the janky shortcuts he had sledgehammered into it.
Then you get stuff like volume one straight up not having most of its environmental textures because all the files sent over by the third party environment modeller were corrupted and they had to quickly throw together SOMETHING using rookie animators still trying to figure out how the bastard Poser worked. And they didn't use pre-baked lighting at all. It's a goddamn miracle the show was watchable at all back then.
Nowadays we would've gotten, I dunno, Blender. If literal whos can make outstanding animated episodes using Blender, Monty would've been a goddamn beast with it.
