I watched a few of the DCAMU films over the years and generally liked them. But then I finally got around to watching Justice League War, and it retroactively ruined the whole series for me. Superman is such a piece of shit. When he first shows up, he attacks Green Lantern and Batman for no other reason than he's pissed. He knows they're not villains and certainly knows they're not real threats. And he doesn't stop until Batman reveals he knows his secret identity. Then later, when Batman saves Superman from Apocalypse during the climax, he doesn't thank him or show any hint of an emotion other than wanting to get revenge on Darkseid. In fact, he goes the entire movie without seeming to care about anyone around him. Holy crap, what were they thinking? Who the hell wants to see Superman as a hotheaded bully?

There's also this weird cuckold energy going on throughout the film. When Superman and Wonder Woman meet, they're instantly attracted to each other and basically start dating. Then, throughout the rest of the film, all the other guys are awkwardly trying to hit on WW and making clowns of themselves, because they can't compare to Superchad. There's even a moment where Green Lantern tries to approach Diana and Superman physically blocks him; the camera shot is framed in a way to make GL look weak and puny by comparison. The whole thing has this "manlets—when will they learn" undertone.

Justice League War and everything connected to it was dogshit. Superman especially was mischaracterized, along with Wonder Woman

You can tell no one here read the first issues he shows up on in Action Comics and only accept Superman as written from 1940-2009 only.

Those movies had a lot of problems but Superman being such a dick was easily one of the worst aspects. They tried to course correct at the end, but it felt so inauthentic by then. Plus it doesn't help that Apokolips War was caused by Superman essentially threatening the League into attacking Darkseid when anyone with a brain would've known it was a bad idea.

I agree with you, yet I thought Apokolips War kind of worked. It was so messed up and grimdark, but I actually liked it. I mean, Darkseid didn't just kill, torture, and enslave the Justice League and Teen Titans; he mutilated them. It's literal body horror stuff. I would have been happier, though, if they had found a way to undo it all without nuking the entire timeline completely.
