I mean I'm not sure how much of a legacy that cartoon has on here but it coming out in the same year as 4chan and still getting focus from time to time makes me think it is. Though I do think they always just put in what was on their mind after reading the news, hence the ATF stuff in season 1. But then they got mentioned a lot because of the topical stuff and all that went to their head, and it's been like that way for the majority of the show. It's a spectrum too, some episodes are all about the topical shit while others force it in at the tail end. Fun Times with Weapons ends with reference to the superbowl wardrobe malfunction at the time
