Unfortunately in the second season, on top of their other problems, the staff started to lean very heavily on Kara being a dumbass for episode plots because it was easy to write. That's why there are so many Kara episodes in Season 2, because it was way easier to just write a "Kara does something stupid" episode than an episode about, say, Diana or Zee, which typically required more thought put into them.
