Why is Human Torch swimming in Iceman's body?

It's strange how masculine it still comes off as. At least in my eyes compared to now. Although to be fair you wouldn't see guys nowadays daring to wear cropped jeans or tops. I wonder what changed?

Got absorbed into the "gay" side of men's fashion

I guess that makes sense but I haven't seen too many gay men dress like that. No where I go to at least. More like pic related.

it was always the gay side of men's fashion. this was simply before the development of men's clothing designed to make them look like they were walking around in shapeless trash bags nobody wanted to look at.

as in cutoffs are 'sporty' and practical as well as a look (and at this point fairly vintage, and they weren't so much gay as something that the gays incidentally enjoyed along with everyone else, but that other picture is doing vaguely european tour fashion.

You know what I mean. It comes off more macho, less flamboyant. Funny that I mention it considering how other sensibilities in the 80s in terms of fashion and culture seemed to be more out there than now.

>macho, flamboyant.
funny, as a gayfag, it comes off as both. I'm not surprised by that other anon's comment about if something is being absorbed as gay men's fashion, it comes off as uncool or "catching the queer," so it fell out of fashion from straights.
Anonymous No.150089519 >>150091031
>>150089211
>>150089295
it's always been macho. the whole point of gay guys wearing it was that it was a type of macho fetish or performance, same as when they put on steel-toed boots, blue jeans and t-shirts (flannel optional). the goal is to luxuriate in masculinity. calling it gay is essentially calling macho signifiers gay. the t-shirt and jeans look was partially immune to stigma, though, because then the straights would have nothing to wear.

I hate the mustache for the most part. But there are some pages by certain illustrators where it doesn't look that bad. Though it's long since run it's course, I hope Johnny is rid of it some day soon.

It's sad when gay writers have to write straight men and can't contain their fetishes.

Yes, at that time gays were incognito in their fashion. It still looks super gay, only the black guy looks somewhat normal. But the only reason is because he seems uncomfortable wearing this.

Those were straight clothes, anon. This kind of fashion persisted into the 80s, with the shorts lasting even longer and making a bit of a comeback recently. Gays dressed different.

Not that anon but a good amount of gay dudes dressed like pic related. Though they did use some articles as a means of communicating. Particularly in clubbing scenes. Different colored bandannas were worn in back pockets of jeans to signify what you were into in terms of hookups.

I’d agree if he was made gay like Bobby. But you are aware bisexuality is a mutual attraction to both sexes? Besides this dude boned aliens that had multiple genders. Plus there was also sexual tension between him and Daken. Thanks to Marjorie Liu’s writing.
