So is anyone gonna storytime the new Superman issue or what?

So survivors from each iteration (well no Threeboot I see, am I the only fan?) seems like we’re for sure getting a mix of just everyone’s favs when the relaunch happens. As someone who liked the idea of some of Bendis’ Legionnaires, NOT HIS WRITING, I’m kinda into it. He really should’ve just had them as the new class and have original team members as guest stars/their own book. Like that period we had Legion and Adventure Comics was the Academy

Mostly Retroboot actually, which makes sense since they're the most iconic version of the Legion
>Retroboot: Brainiac 5, Dawnstar, Polar Boy, Starman, fakeCosmic Boy
>Reboot: Brainiac 5 (dies), Kinetix
>Threeboot: Brainiac 5
>Bendisboot: Brainiac 5, Gold Lantern

If/when we get a new Legion, I imagine it'd just be the Retroboot Legion with some of the unique characters from the other Legions added for good measure.

Speaks to my desperation that I’m giving them a pass on all the deaths assuming to comes together well

Funny to me that it’s the Geoff Johns favorites

I mean, they're clearly going to end this with a "the future is fine again and all the Legions are back to being alive :)" ending.

He's right tho. I don't think even editorial has the energy to rehash the same tired old Legion arcs YET AGAIN.

Yes, this is the same old same old same old same old. Now with asshole Superboy to keep it "fresh".

I still believe that the problem with the Legion is that they've spent so much of their history changed and rebooted.
We can't just have the Legion, there has to be some arbitrary change.
I feel like DC wants to go back to the Retroboot for real this time, you know, be as close to the originals like most other stuff in current DC right now, but I just don't know if it'll work out.

Let's see:
Do they have anyone who can write interesting stories about super-advanced technology, the social fabric of far-future worlds with access to near-magic tech (or actual magic) or can dream up some compelling and bizarre alien societies?
No?
Then it's just D-list superhero crap with funny looking buildings and everyone drives a space ship. In other words a complete waste of time for everyone.
Same reason Detective Comics has not actual DETECTIVE comics, because writing is hard and they only hire people who can rehash Darkseid's Big Plot.

>>150092499
Well, that too, but that's a different type of problem.
It's so easy to say "just get a good writer bro", but that's not gonna cut it if the foundation of the team will keep changing every few years.

There are "good" writers who can write within their wheelhouse, but to sell the Legion of Superheroes, you specifically need someone who can imagine crazy levels of technology insinuated into everyday society. Because 2025 DCverse already has crazy technology, it's just in the hands of villains and heroes.
Millennia into the future, even the convenience store worker has access to Luthor-tech. Or do convenience stores even exist? What has replaced them? And on and on and on.

Instead, with Legion, you just get cops in stupid outfits with lazor guns, some badly drawn spaceships, and cut-and-paste stories from regular DC, and of course a lot of pointless shipping of D-list heroes.
That's it.
So no, they don't need to be rehashed so we can revisit the DRAMA of Triplicate Girls being killed off. It was trite even before they did it a third time.
Anonymous No.150092604
Or God forbid, an exercise in "Here in the Future, we no longer hold to your quaint notions of sexuality or gender!" of the last version.
Yeah, that was something.
Even that was boring.

They should give Hickman a crack at it. I'd also suggest Camp, but The Legion has a big roster and that's starting to give his Ultimates book some trouble. If Remender ever took a vacation from creator-owned stuff I'd be interested in his ideas, but that'd never happen.

This is DC, there's going to be a reboot every few years no matter what. A good cover that catches your eye and a good story that convinces you to buy the next issue are what really matter.

>Thoughts on Brainiac 5?
When I first saw him in the Justice League unlimited I thought "Who the hell is this guy and why is Supergirl leaving the show?" After reading some pre-crisis Legion comics I like him. He's a relatively simple "rude genius" archetype but it works.
