In-universe, 1/5, giga-cringe and ultra-cope. But for the show IRL? 4/5, the cringe and cope is what makes it a good character moment.

It's not even a villain speech. The guy is hurt and really hasnt done anything wrong. I can see where he is coming from because he is scared to lose the ones he cares about thus making him sympathetic
Goose doesn't come here. Michael does though. He reads what you all say about him.

It's good in context. It's clearly a guy coping incredibly hard with his situation while trying to push someone he cares about away from him so he doesn't get hurt again. Out of context it reads like some edgy cringe, but that's the point, Jax is just seething and desperately trying to avoid more loss.

Like, I get that it's suppose to be a cope, but it's just way too damn obvious. You couldn't get more direct if he literally screamed "I AM COPING, THIS IS A COPE SPEECH"
It's so stupidly obvious that now if they don't actually have him be "Redeemed" it's gonna look stupid

This show has so much going for it in terms of animation and music and pacing and script, but the fact that its all in service of "dude we are deconstructing everything you love we are so freaking INTELLIGENT" keeps me away.
Particularly because its shit I actually always hated to begin with, stuff I've always been critical of, so they're not exactly breaking any big news to me by what they're deconstructing , and yet its made with this confident and assertive energy as if it IS breaking big news to me, which you can imagine makes it incredibly obnoxious to watch on my end.
It's the Deadpool effect. The movie was made for retards who only watch superhero films and other blockbuster shlock. That's who it was made to impress. If you go into that film as someone who already knows what a 4th-wall break is and are already aware of superhero cliches, you're not impressed by the jokes cos they feel like jokes you could have come up with yourself, and yet it has this snarky attitude like "it totally got you".
I understand why The Amazing Digital Circus is effective on preteens and mentally studented 30 years olds, but for me its just a really fucking gay and annoying show.
Sorry.

Can't wait for the reveal to be that Jax doesn't have any deep backstory and is just an asshole because everyone is born with a certain temperament and you can't remove a person from the warts that define them, and then this will be treated as some big breakthrough in storytelling among the cartoon community because they never watch anything made for adults.

They're stuck in (seemingly) eternal gay baby jail where you eventually either go insane and get thrown in a dark basement, or your friends do before that also happens to you. His coping mechanism sucks (for the others too), but it seems it's one of the most effective strategies along with Kinger's (literal insanity) and Ragatha's (taking all the suffering onto yourself)
