Why was this episode so gross and mean? The episode was full of arguing and gross-out, resulting in Samson saying Raj has two belly-buttons and Raj saying Samson has fart armpits. Disgusting!

I'm only posting about it because it feels like it's often considered one of the best Cartoon Network shows, like at the very least, it seems to be considered better than Chowder, Hi Hi Puffy AmiYumi, Flapjack, Gym Partner, Squirrel Boy, Class of 3000, and Juniper Lee, all of which come from the second half of the 2000s (though Chowder and Flapjack were from a later era as they were the last 2 years of the 2000s)

I'll give you that. Lazlo is better than these. Absolutely baffling how boring and uninteresting CN's shows between 2005-2007 were. This entire era was carried by the shows they picked up in the early 2000s that hadn't ended yet.
