It expediates a few things admittedly, but also creates the largest paradox of why a group staunchly for assassination would effectively inform and train someone who hadn't proved unquestionably loyal beforehand, or with the handwave that Ra's thought the Wayne's resources too useful to dismiss why wouldn't he gradually condition him with setup kill or be killed situations until he became accustomed to it.
Leaving it to a last second test with nothing but hearsay as the incentive to execute someone just made Ra's, a supposedly seasoned expert of many crafts with a small army of loyal followers, suddenly look woefully inept at reading and manipulating the most barefaced person there was.

There's also the enigma of why they let Bruce get away with it for so long just to setup some long method of assassination instead of just killing him in his sleep before he got to Gotham, the movie wouldn't happen obviously but that's not relevant to the depiction of this elite shadow society as incompetent whenever dealing with this one guy.

Alex Ross tried to do something like that, but sadly it didn't take off.
The first Raimi movie tie-in game instantly changes Green Goblin model to Ross' GG if you equip Ross Spider-Man costume, so it's probably the only time you could see it in action.

Wolverine and Lady Deathstrike dating before he was bonded to the Adamantium, and killing her father during his escape. In the comics, her father was a WW2 soldier who failed to die in a kamikaze, was arrested by the US, made millions off a book he wrote, and tried to make an adamantium samurai army. Also Deathstrike killed him herself, and the adamantium bonding was stolen by a random nameless guy, her dad had nothing to do with Weapon X.

Having just read some of the original ASM issues, I'm still at a loss why Liz Allen was just rushed off the stage only to be replaced with another blonde popular girl with the same dynamic with Peter. Just so they could spend a few issues rerunning Peter and Liz's early relationship?

It's not surprising they just make her another highschool classmate of his in other adaptation.

I just think its a retcon that makes sense. Who the hell else would teach Batman how to be one of the world's greatest fighters? He could travel the world and learn how to do shit and then still get his ass pushed in by a thug who got lucky with a pipe.

Trained assassins make more sense because I imagine they'd know more of what to look for when fighting people. Self defense trainers will teach you how to survive, but assassins will teach you how to kill. I imagine knowing what to look for to kill a person has saved batman's life before even if he doesn't kill anyone.

It's just bog standard streamlining. It happens all the time in adaptations, especially movies, because they're more strapped for time.

This is actually a recent one, but I actually did think it was clever to make Scorpion's tail a prototype of Ock's tentacle. Right now it does feel a bit like he's just Ock with one tentacle, but I would genuinely be interested in seeing how they develop the idea to make Scorpion not quarter of Octavious. I think they should marry the idea from Spider-man 2 that Scorpion's tail is like fucking sentient to make him stand out from Octavious.
Anonymous No.150178900

nta but he never said they were your ideas, just that they're the only interesting characters to have trained Batman in the comics. the rest are basically Glup Shittos, and making it Ra's who trained him adds depth to both characters such as the latter's obsession with Bruce all while Bruce tries to grapple with the league's lethal methods and staying true to his own moral code against killing
>>150178780
exactly, so I don't think it's 1610's fault at all. it's convergent thinking but they're not related to each other: Ultimate Marvelwas more or less an attempt to make a new streamlined comic universe that was contemporary and more believably coexistent with all of its characters and stories, and a big reason behind that philosophy was to make them prime material for adaptation into movies and other media
