5, 3 & 4. A brother and his twin sisters, they were around for a few years in the 60s, and pretty much disappeared once Peppermin Patty and Woodstock joined the strip.

WHERE'S THE JOKE, SCHULTZ

The joke is that naming your children numbers is silly.
It also preys on the fear the boomer has about the future with all these new machines so it elicits laughter as a response when you encounter something you dont expect or you fear so you try to lower the tension with laughter

It was also something about zip codes which were just being introduced. 5's full name was 555 95472.
He also later named a short used character, Tapioca Pudding .

Funnily enough, the twins 3 and 4 only made a handful of appearances that ended right around the time the special probably entered production. 5 though stuck around for decades in the comics as a background/minor character and wound up lasting in the strip longer than Shermy who was originally a primary cast member.

Not sure why Patty isn't in this group since she was in that special and she's pretty much the only other recurring character in the strip at the time that wasn't; Charlie Brown and Lucy were just off-stage and Charlotte Braun had already been murdered a decade earlier.

Charlotte Braun was a character introduced fairly early in the strip's run that was generally disliked by the readers because of her attitude and personality. Basically take Peppermint Patty's obnoxious behavior from the Thanksgiving episode, dial it up a notch, and imply that she's yelling all of her lines at the top of her lungs.

So a little girl wrote to ask Schulz to drop her and got this response:

>Dear Miss Swaim, I am taking your suggestion regarding Charlotte Braun and will eventually discard her. If she appears anymore it will be in strips that were already completed before I got your letter or because someone writes in saying that they like her. Remember, however, that you and your friends will have the death of an innocent child on your conscience. Are you prepared to accept such responsibility? Thanks for writing, and I hope that future releases will please you. Sincerely, Charles M. Schulz.

Schulz never used her again, not even as a filler character in specials or backgrounds.

Elizabeth donated the letter to the Library of Congress shortly after Schulz died so her legacy of murder will live on.

Even if Schulz was probably planning on dropping the character anyway, it's a pretty great claim to fame.

That was like his first misfire character. He was introducing characters that weren't originally there, but got big and eventually over took Shermey, Patty and Violet (who was the first new one) but here's his first misfire. He waited about 4 years to introduce a new one, Sally.

That time Schultz made a live action movie with his self insert as spike the dog and his daughter, in order to try and help launch her acting career.
