A lot of people are saying Disney could learn from this. People want good vs evil, pretty girls, heterosexual normalcy, good music, and a modern relatable setting. There was zero cussing. The animation was absolutely beautiful. Something both adults & kids can enjoy. It also had obvious Christian theming. Overcoming the lies of anxiety and Satan, overcoming your past, and overcoming evil via sacrifice of self. I also loved that the main characters are females who fight bad guys while staying feminine. The art and music are outstanding and topping the charts.

What is unique about Kpop is the production of so many boybands and girlbands. The US just doesn't produce those anymore and hasn't in a while. For as fucked up as the idol system is I think it's the only way to produce girl/boy bands that can be successful and last, the iron grip they have over their stars is what prevents the the scandals and dissolutions that plagued American bands.

It was a movie made by a Korean Canadian but it is an example of Korea's rising soft power culturally. The music itself was also written by actual Kpop producers so it's hardly a "copycat" in that regard - it's just straight up Kpop with more English lyrics than usual.
